Topic: Baked Beans Posted: 16 August 2007 at 1:41pm |
Who would've thought to give a 10 month old baked beans? Or am I just really backwards? At Plunket on Monday we discovered that I was right re: my concerns about them not gaining weight, they had both LOST weight, and my Plunket nurse said I should start giving them more normal family meals instead of baby food. Then she suggested baked beans, spaghetti etc.
So I tried them on baked beans for lunch, and they actually ate them! I was amazed, I would never have even thought to try them! They also liked the steak and kidney casserole and the lasagne that I put thru the food processor for them last night. Maybe she's right, maybe good ole pureed veges have had their day in our house and it's on to "real food"?

Well if Kryssi is anything to go by, she's not interested in homemade purees but if it's a sandwich over tins - yep!!!

definately go for 'real' family meals emma! charli has been getting spaghetti and baked beans for about a month now and she loves them. she mostly eats what we do now which is so much easier. she loves being able to feed herself
here's hoping for a good weight gain for the gremlins this week

Yep, I bet tomorrows nappies will be marvellous
Aimee - dairy etc. is going fine, we now have them weaned onto Karicare Follow On and doing fine. They both lost weight at their last PLunket check but given that they have no other allergy symptoms except Mercedes exczema, the doctor doubts their weight loss is allergy related and I agree. It's more likely coz they are pathetic eaters and eat hardly anything.
Self feeding Vanessa? Wow, you're brave! My girls gie themselves finger foods, but no way am I letting them have a spoon just yet. Too messy!

I haven't actually tried baked beans with Erin, although it has crossed my mind once or twice. Took me a little while to give her what we eat for dinner, although she has what we have 90% of the time now, and finger foods for lunch. I'm glad the Gremlins are happy to chow down on the beans though, and I agree about the nappies!
