Spencer does this sometimes too. Things we normally try are to give him teethmed and put babytad on (it plays 6 mins of lullabys) if that doesn't work then one of us normally brings him out into the lounge for cuddles. This normally calms him down and then allows us to start the night routine again, so he gets out of fighting mode. If that doesn't work then we normally break out the pamol cos lets face it for I know he could have a wrotten headache or something.
I find when Spencer is ill or teething he normally struggles to go to sleep but then is fine once sleeping and will sleep through as normal.

Well we had success tonight!

Firstly she had been rejecting her last evening b/f from me lately, and did so again tonight. Normally I would keep her up till she would take a feed from me. Not tonight instead I gave her a bottle of formula at 6:15pm and she gulped it down no worries! Is this what you call self weaning from b/f?

Then she was in bed by 6:45, 10 mins or so of protesting and then what do you know she's asleep!

I actually think her sleeping problems were kind of my fault, I was ignoring her tired signs till she would take that last feed for the evening, thinking I was doing the right thing to get her through without waking for food! Now I know she will take a bottle of formula quite happily, I am happy to let her have that instead of a b/f!

This mothering is all a learning curve ain't it!

Sorry for the long post, I am just so happy she went to sleep so easily tonight!

Miss L!!!

Peachy, I find warming R's bed up first helps him to go to sleep. I just heat a wheat pack and take it out of the bed before I put him in it.

Great news Peachy. I found it is always trial and error with each new dilemma.

Im not one for CC (I cant handle the tears!) but I am reading a book by Jo Frost aka Suppernanny. She used the CC technique but in a different way - she sits silently near the cot in the room until the baby falls asleep in its own bed (may only take 20 mins to start with). You dont have to rock them to sleep and eventually they will learn to go to sleep on their own. Dont know if it will help for future reference.

Also another thing, have your babies ears checked - could be blocked ears or an ear infection that causes pain when lying down in bed. I apparently used to get lots of them as a baby and it drove my mother bonkers until she figured it out.
