Hi all, just checking in, I've kind of been avoiding any fertility things for a while. My grand plan to lose weight has not worked, in fact I've just been eating bad foods - probably just using the excuse of feeling low, not the best plan I'm sure.

Theoretically my period should arrive next week but they say it can be up to 2 weeks late after the IVF cycle .. time will tell.

We are trying to decide whether to put 1 frozen embryo back or 2, does anyone know if 2 means they 'fight' to stick if you put 2 (so it's not good) or are they entities in themselves? Any one have an opinion to offer? (This is of course IF they thaw - 60% chance). They think there's about a 30% chance of getting pregnant with a thaw.

Bert - good luck with this cycle. My thoughts are so with you. Do keep us posted!

Tulips - far out yes. The babies are EVERYWHERE!! I went to a housewarming recently and there must have been 15 kids less than 2 and about 5 pregnant women. It really hit me hard. One nephew just arrived and a niece around the corner .... don't we all just know how this feels.

Welcome Kelli - I wish you all the best for this journey, we are here for you if you have any questions!

Take care all, looking forward to hearing all about our BFP's

What's the secret to get fibroids to shrink? I've had enough of heavy periods.

Bert
Have you had your first injection yet?

HI everyone,

Well.....I am officially back on the roller coaster again!    I had my first injection last night with my first blood test to check for Down Regulation due on Aug 13, so fingers crossed it happens this time.   Feeling pretty good emotionally at this stage.....well actually more like not feeling much of anything. I am thinking it could be a 'self protection' response to shield myself from the disappointment which is always a possibility. But we are keeping as positive as we can. I had a 'spiritual healing' today to help me get thru this round. You never know!    And reckon I can use all the help I can get!

Bombshell...I am very keen to find out how to shrink fibroids as well!   Sorry I won't be able to answer any of your questions, as I am on public funding.   But all the best in whatever path you end up taking!

I will keep you all up to date on my progress. And as always....thanks for your support and well wishes!

Hey Bert
Fancy us going through this together again! My first injection was last night. Straight onto Gonal F - no Buserelin. I am like you - feeling a bit numb, not feeling much of anything. I want to be positive but not get my hopes up too much.
I'm off to Chch on Fri for BT & scan. I'm tempted to take some time off after transfer (if I get that far and the boss lets me).

Hey Tulips,
It is pretty out there that we ended up doing our 2nd round at the same time. Heres hoping that we both have BFPs at the end of it!
It sounds like you will have your result alot sooner than I will. All the best! Sounds like a really good idea to take some time off after the transfer if you are able to. It is hard to know what is the best way to deal with the waiting. It is another one of those things that is different for everyone, I guess. I haven't even thought about what I will do if I get to that stage, but I am very lucky to have a job where I am able to work from home if necessary. I will wait and see how I am holding up emotionally when the time comes.
Can't wait to follow your progress!

Gosh isn't it frustrating when you don't get email notifications!!!!!

Welcome Pluto and GOOD LUCK, it's all we can wish for on this adventure. It can be really frustrating, so hang in there.

Bert and Tulips - I'm thinking of you ... while I didn't think the injections took a toll on me, when I came off them I realised they did! Hang in there too.

Do keep me posted, I sooo hope to hear of some BFP's on here (mine included). Period due next week so hopefully on time so we can get on with a frozen transfer.

Take care

Greetings to everyone.

I have just finished reading all of your posts (the ups and downs) and would like to contribute to the going ons.

I am currently undergoing IVF for the first time and just today have had an embryo implanted from a frozen thaw. I had to have my treatment put on hold after collection of 20 eggs and due to the threat of overstimulation.

I just wanted to say that all your stories have touched me greatly and has helped me cope with the whole process. Most of what has been said on these pages I can relate to and it is refreshing to know that other women are going through the same emotional rollercoaster as I am.

Fingers crossed to all of us!

tulips - no secret - my fibroids are hormonal..so with pregnancy they grow and grow and multiply...and then now they have reduced right down to nothing since last scan...but when pregnant the hormones will feed them up again and I will bloat up large again. We got one out when bubs came...but only one...and I am kinda freaked that maytbe something happend when he cut that one out? you know when ttc and dont have any explanation you look for all kinds anywhere you can....

OH gawd appt this week....eek!

Welcome BethG - wow from me also, 20 eggs!! Did they all fertilise? It must have been so frustrating having to wait (re overstim threat), but on the otherhand you have lots of options if this first thaw isn't the outcome we all want for you.

I have recently heard of someone who has a gorgeous 6 year old daughter from a 'thaw' so it can happen!

Hang in there as I know this 2WW can be very traumatic!

How are those injections going? My stomach is getting bigger every day. I've got to have 2 injections tomorrow night. I've taken Fri off work to go to Chch for my appt. The road-trips begin again!

Wow what a great forum...
I too am starting my first round of IVF, so reading through all the posts hearing all the special stories and thoughts of others going through the same process.

I have been put on the pill for three weeks and then have an appt before I start the Buserelin injections... so I have a big question - who injects the drugs - do I ??? or does the clinic.

Any advice on the whole injection thing?

Be really great to hear from anyone starting IVF treatment.

HI Tulips,
Injections are going well so far. DH is helping prepare them each night for me, so it is nice to feel like he is actually taking part in the process this time. I take my last BCP tonight and have another week to go on the Buserilin. I sure hope I down regulate this time.    Good luck for tomorrow! I will be eagerly waiting to see how it went.

Welcome to all the new ladies! I am so pleased that you are finding this forum helpful. I never imagined how popular it would become.

Tanners....I am sorry to say, you will be doing the daily injections yourself (unless your DH is going to help). But take it from the worlds biggest needle-phobe......it isn't actually all that bad. In fact, I find the blood tests alot worse than the injections. The only advise I can give is to just relax.   Try to get your DH involved.....I have found that it helps.   All the best on your journey!

Hi Tanners

I did the injections myself too ... also a major needle phobe initially. Although I'm also a bit of a control freak so doing them myself was the only way I could've coped!!

I agree with Bert, the blood tests ended up being the worst as it started to hurt after a while - just remember to alternate arms each time you have one as it certainly helps (as well as having nice blood people who are gentle, but you can't control that one)!

Good luck!

Hi Bert and Tischler,
thanks for the advice and info on the injections... nice (hmmmm probably not the best word) to know what we are in for!
Its funny neither the clinic or any of the info they have given us mention doing these injections... maybe they wanted it to be a surprise?

Good luck to you both with your next treatments.

Now I just have to get my lingo up to speed to get all the information in the posts, seems like there are 3letter shortcuts for EVERYTHING
