they wont send you home if things dont start happening... but i would try and get a morning induction cause otherwise they tell you to go to sleep and rest, which is not an easy thing in a hospital.

I have had 3 inductions, the first ended as a ventouse delivery after being on the drip all day the second only had one lot of gel and waters broken then the rest was very relaxed and "easy" and the third resulted in a c section. so really it could go any way. and all mine were overdue too, 42/1, 42/3 and 42/2.

MissAngel, can't you go private and have a c section or is that just way to pricey?

Maybe try another doc?

Well the obstetrician said that they can send me home after applying the gel stuff, it all depends on how busy they are etc.
Helen - to be honest with you I couldnt be bothered. And its too expensive.
I'm booked in for next week for an induction now.

Once induction has started they normally dont let you go home - especially if hospital is so far away from your home.

When I was induced, I was given syntocinon and was on an IV and within several hours things had started to progress. Normally when you have been induced, the chances of VB are still very high but your chances of needing pain relief are also quite high. I dont think it would increase your chance of having a cs but you may need forceps or ventouse etc.

With an epidural - your mw should control the situation enough so that there is no chance of your hips dislocating. I would be very shocked if it was let to happen and would be laying complaints. I had an epidural and would do it again in a heartbeat rather than having to have a cs - it was very pleasant and made the experience almost enjoyable. I was on my back and propped into a semi-sitting position and had my knees up. My mw and DH held my knees up if they slightly wobbled and so there was no risk of dislocating my hips. I would do anything to avoid having a cs and having to heal from that - try not being able to lift anything esp your new baby for up to 6 wks after a cs! No thankyou. This time I am having an epidural again due to a high risk pregnancy (multiples) but I am looking forward to it.

i was induced with xavier, given 1 dose on ctg for half an hour then allowed to leave, had to be back at 1 had another dose had to stay then.

I ended up having c/s as bubs was rop and cervix was thicking, But everything that ellie said would normally happen didnt. I was only her third client in the last 6 months who has been induced thats needed a c/s.
