Topic: Belly Bands Posted: 22 April 2008 at 5:58pm |
Hey guys,
Just looking for some experience/opinions really. Kind of a wee survey!
I am thinking about getting some off TradeMe and was wondering:
Did many of you get them?
Did you find them useful and comfortable?
Did you use them to extend the life of your existing pants, or more just as an accessory?
Do you have a recommendation between the long ones and the short ones?
I am wondering whether I get some Belly Bands or just invest in more actual maternity pants. I have to wear reasonably dressy clothes to work and dress pants seem to be expensive!
Opinions appreaciated. Thanks, as usual!

I got them.
I found them very useful and very comfortable!
At first they were more of an accessory, and as I got bigger I wore them under my tops and tucked into my pants (I just had normal ones with a stretch waistband that I wore below my bump), so when I bent over I wouldn't be flashing my puku/back/buttcrack to the world!
I recommend the longer ones, cos you can always fold them in half if you want them shorter, and they'll be better for when your belly is really big. And after, you can always wear them a tube tops under other tops!

I've just got the one that I wear with my work uniform - it's fantastic cause we have to wear pencil skirts (not a lot of room for expansion!!) so it's given me so far a good two months extra use out of it. the band is really comfy and black, so quite discreet as well.
i got mine from pumpkin patch for about $15...

I got mine off TM, just the cheapies, they seem good enough! Go for the long ones; the short one I have is a bit of a waste of time TBH. I wore them from about 20 weeks with my fly part undone if necessary and the band over top. But they came in far more handy at breastfeeding time, cause I stayed lots more covered when lifting my top than without them.
Get two different colours and you'll probably be all set

i used them for both pregnancies and would've been lost without them! i didn't bother with maternity clothes because they are so expensive IMO
i'd definately recommend a long one! they are great at covering up the half un-done fly and also keeping your tum and back warm when your tops get too short for over your belly
my first one i got from supre and it was the best one! but i lent it to a friend and she lost it. then when i got preggy again, i couldn't find one that was as long or as thick. i ended up with one from a TM lady and it was good too.

I have a black one and a white one, mine are just the normal length ones and I find them great. I feel more snug in them and they stop my belly from showing when my tops are a bit short.
I got mine from melonbellys on Trade Me

Hi .. I bought some for my first pg and only used them once or twice. But that could be due to the fact I didn't actually pop our or show until approx 32 weeks and by then I had some good maternity pants and skirts I could wear instead.
I sold mine on TM and have heard good things about them from everyone that has used them.

I agree they are great, but don't get KMart ones they are cheaper but made of 'sweaty' material and waaaaay too tight (unless you're still like a size 6) and they don't stretch much either.

Had to comment on this... I got three from TM Mellonbellies. And they are fantastic, I too had to wear my work attire up until 37 weeks when Daniel was born and they held them up nicely! And now with the weather cooler I wear them under my tops so when I bf it keeps my belly and back nice and warm!

Do you just get the size you usually are? I must have had a growth spurt over the past few weeks as my tops are all too short now!
