So just trying to figure out what bra size I might need once baby's out and wondering whether I'm likely to end up as big second time round as I did with my first (went from C to barely fitting F and then settling down to E and finally D, where I still am).
Bras are just so expensive I don't want to buy what I don't need, but they're also kinda essential and I want to be prepared rather than having to send DH out from the hospital
I was basically the same with both my babys - (normally a B cup went to a C or D depending on brand when feeding, then back to a B between babys) although to be honest I never bothered getting a proper fitting of maternity bras so I could have been wearing the wrong size!!
I got fitted at 36 weeks & settled back to that size. I only got a couple just in case though. I've only gone down one cup size in this whole time though.
I got some cheap bras from the warehouse in a cup and size bigger so i'm normally D i got DD and wore those the first few days after birth and when milk had settled brought the right size. It can be tricky though!
Hmm I went to a oulet store a got a couple of cheapies fitted at 36 weeks.. they were a bit tight if I was really engorged but were ok until my supply settled and then they were a bit big... they are fitting snugly now so am thinking I might need to do the same again as I dont think they will cope with full boobies!
I was too heavy for bf singlets unfortunately, my big boobies just heaved out of them and the very much needed breast pads would fall out
I did some hestia ones in the warehouse yesterday that have tummy control too! That might be nice with wobbly post birth belly! Only $30 too!
I bought SO many bras last pregnancy, cost me a fortune - I never thought I would end up as big as I did.
I went from a B cup right to a DD or E depending on what brand or bra I was getting and then when my milk came in I was bursting out of those! I thought I might have to go up a size again but thankfully they settled down and I didn't have to buy another round of bras. Now I am around a D I think. Hopefully I don't have to buy any more this time - so over buying maternity bras!
I have so many nice underwire bras sitting in my closet unused and all I can think is that it must be hundreds of dollars sitting there! The individual bras didn't cost very much (except a few ) but when you add it all up......
I waited until my milk came in but being the first woman in my family to properly BF I went and bought my bras, probably too early. I was DD (from a small B cup) and went and got DD bras which lasted me a month and then my boobs settled to a D... then a C and are now a large B/small C. I've wasted so much money buying bras to cater! - No real advice though sorry! Perhaps expect things to go the same way second time? I think that's what I will do...
Also I didn't buy HotMilk or anyother 'branded' bras. I went to Kmart and while they are great! They have stretched so much! I really like my one from Farmers, it's served me well!
I was a B or C before Jack and went up to a D or DD depending on the brand and have stayed the same size since, there was no change between Jack and Ben or after Ben was born.
Have you still got your old maternity bras? I just used those initially until I knew whether I would change size and then bought some new ones. Avokado (they have a website and store in Newmarket) are really good, have heaps of info on their website and great specials
Thanks for all the info guys. Don't think I'll get away with the singlets. I recall last time that any movement was soooo painful that I think I want everything well strapped in I've still got my old bras from last time - pretty stretched and past it - but probably is sensible to go with them at least at first.
