Topic: BFP...maybe!? Posted: 23 September 2007 at 5:39pm |
I just did another hpt LOL !!! but I used a clear blue this time and I got what looked like a really very faint line and DF saw it too, but it seems to have faded a bit now, can it be the evaperation line or something? Cos Im sure that your not meant to see any line unless you have hcg in your system?? Or could it of been the evaperation line(sort of where the second line would show up if your preg if u get what I mean) it showed up almost as soon as the pee hit that panel.
Im SO confused now I got excited and now Im confused! Dumb!

yup i got a SUPER FAINT line!! on all 6 of my tests and i now have a beautiful 3 month old boy
We were trying for 15 months and i had many evap lines!! and they look kind of clear (almost transparent!) with absolutely no colour in them but my faint lines (pregnant) had a slight red tinge to them.
I found the clear blue ones faded after time (and i was def pregnant!) and didnt show up as fast but the first response showed up straight away and didnt fade at all!.
I got a BFP at 9 DPO so quite early too.
I also found a good way of telling whether it is an evap line or not (although not fool proof of course! ) - take a photo of it against a white background (not against a light though as an evap line shows up good in light) and if you can see the line in the photo and so can everyone else then id say BFP
Good luck!! many happy sticky baby vibes comming your way

Ooh sounds very promising Sheza. My first BFP's were very faint, in fact DH couldn't even see them so I thought it was all in my head.
Apparently positives can fade over time on some tests too. Good luck

fingers crossed, my first one came out quite faint as well, and the clear blue ones only have a valid reading for 10mins

do you have another test you can do? If there was a line there at the start then I would say your pregnant. I know my very first test you could hardly see it, hubby thought I was imagining it and even on the doctors test they thought it was neg cos it took so long to come up but i was preggie!
Do another test and good luck!

Yeah if you look at instructions it says you can only read it in first 10mins, but if there was a line there to start with I would say that is positive. Mine was barely visible but 2 days later when the doc did test it came up really bright straight away

The more I look at the pic, the more I think I can see a line - maybe test again tomorrow. Or maybe try a different test - I got a BFN on the clearblue but a BFP using DISCOVER One Step Early Result.
Good luck!

Thanks Everyone, Its good to ready other peoples point of view! Its just so confusing because there WAS a line there from about 1 min after I peeds on it and DF even saw it, then a few mins later it faded so I dont know if its just a evap line...
I found this on that peeonastick website.
***What's an evaporation line? Evaporation ("evap") lines result with the test's antibody strip just looks slightly different than the space around it. There is a line of antibodies (usually made from mouse cells) in the Control and Test section. The Control line binds with any liquid and turns pink (or blue, in tests using blue dye.) The Test/Result line turns pink only if pregnancy hormone is detected. If not, the moisture passes over this strip and does not turn pink. It may, however, become more visible when the light hits the moisture on the strip-- it may appear gray, colorless, like a "dent" in the test, or like a "ghost line." It may appear at any time-- as soon as the urine hits it, after a few minutes as the test absorbs the moisture, or after the 10-minute time limit. It may appear when the test is drying, or after it has dried. It may disappear as the test is drying, or after the test has dried, or not disappear at all.
The simple fact is that there is always "something there" that is slightly visible-- it's simply the antibodies on the test that would turn pink in the presence of hCG. When the test becomes wet, or as it dries, or after it dries, the antibody strip may become more visible. Therefore, all tests may have them. It is not a defect; it's just how tests are made.
A real positive is identified by its color (pink or blue, whatever the color of the test's dye is) and its appearance within 10 minutes of urinating on the stick. A line that appears after 10 minutes, regardless of color, must be considered an evap line and is caused by the test's chemicals changing. HPT's are rapid assay diagnostics, which means any results appearing after the "rapid" time limit of 10 minutes are invalid.

if it is a BFP the line will not disappear over time. I had a very faint line with #2 and its still there 9 years later (and yes i keep the preg test - senitmental fool I am )
I would say either go to Dr, family planning or get another test and test again.
Good Luck
