Hi there, this is my first pregnancy and I'm at 12 weeks 5 days.
I've been sick since Monday with normal cold symptoms, on Tuesday things went from bad to worse with nausea (I haven't really had much nausea so far), dizziness/feeling faint, headache, loss of appetite, diarrhea and a really strong cough.

I woke up on Wednesday (yesterday) and went to the bathroom and found that I had been bleeding at night, it's brown blood and there's not a lot of it kind of like at the end of your period. I got really freaked out and moved my 12 week ultrasound from Thursday to Wednesday to make sure baby is okay, the scan showed the baby was fine with a heart beat and everything but still I was worried. I have a bit of pressure at the bottom of my belly as well and it's a bit tender. I've been feeling fine from Wednesday except for the cough.

I've been bleeding since Wednesday around 3am until now, is this normal? Neither my midwife nor the GP (the GP was useless!) seem to be concerned but I am very anxious and no one seems to be taking me seriously. I was hoping maybe some mums might have similar experiences and put my mind at ease because I feel like I'm going crazy.

Its very common to spot around the time your period would be due (4,8,12 weeks etc) and brown blood is good,it means its old. Its scary but its really common. Ive had bleeding in all 3 pregnancies. With DS1 I bleed heavily enough to send me to hospital overnight twice and this time I have spotted red 3 times before 20 weeks. Turns out this time I had thrush which caused it. Have your lmc taken any swabs to check for uti, sti, thrush etc as they all cause spotting? I know its scary and impossible to not worry but if youve seen bubba since the spotting started then you should be ok. When i had a mc I spotted fresh blood and scan showed bubshad been gone for 4 weeks so I feel like you have ery different circumstances.

Hi there. I have had spotting several times this pregnancy. Mine seems to be aggravated by tummy problems like constipation. In my first pregancy I also had it after diarrhoea, some people seem to have a sensitive cervix. It is a horrible feeling seeing blood. You are quite far on though and have recently seen baby so I think you are most likely fine. My midwife also told me that it is just one of those things that they can't really explain about pregnancy. Also, when I was bleeding I read a study that said that it was only once bleeding was more than a normal period that there was a strong link to bad outcomes. The pressure in your tummy could be from upset tummy/digestion troubles too maybe?

Thank you guys so much, I suspect it may have to do with my diarrhea or extreme coughing but it's good to hear some personal stories rather than people trying to make me feel like I'm crazy and over exaggerating. I feel slightly better now thanks!
