Topic: Bleeding in 12th week Posted: 09 June 2007 at 11:05pm |
Help! I just went to he loo and noticed that the water was really pink when I flushed it. Did another wipe and there was blood. It has now stopped (only lasted 20secs) and there was nothing on my underwear at all, strange. Rang MW and she said not to worry unless it starts again and dosnt stop. Still feeling freaked out. Has this happened to anyone before? Its probably been talked about before but in a panic and didnt want to search through pages. Need reassurance!

It happended to me on and off from around the 8 week to around the 12th (from memory) - in fact it got slightly worse every time. I ended up going to my GP because it was quite bad and got the miscarigaes are quite common talk and was sent for an early scan. I fraked of course and cried the whole night before the scan, but all turned out to be OK. It has remained 'unexplained' bleeding as there was nothing obvious at the scan. And as you can see from my signature all worked out fine for us.
Best of luck and hope it never happens to you again - big hugs too as I know how scary it is

If you don't have any cramping or pains in the tummy then you should be ok. I had a very small bleed at 15 weeks which totally FREAKED me out, had a scan a day later & showed baby was fine, but it had come from behind the placenta which FREAKED me out again!! I haven't had any bleeding since & didn't have any pains or cramping at all with the bleed.
Its not nice seeing blood down there when pg though, so hope everythings ok & it settles down quick. Don't hesitate to go to Dr or MW & get cervix checked (makes sure its closed) if you're worried though. I went to A&E when it happened to me as I didn't want to wait for a scan & that gave me peace of mind as they did blood tests & cervix check & we heard the heartbeat on the dopler.

I haven't had it but it is pretty common and also very scary. Your mw should be able to check out the heartbeat for you to ease your concern.

Had you just had "special cuddles" that can cause bleeding. I got that early on and it put me off sex!!! Then at about 18 weeks I got the slightest bleed (about a drop or 2 on a panty liner). Totally freaked me out as I was away from home and DF. Midwife toldme much the same as yours. I didnt get a scan as I was away and just had a stressful couple of days.....but nothing came of it. Peanut is kicking me like mad and I'll never know.
Apparently it is VERY common especially aroun 4,8,12 weeks (ie when your period would have happened)

was it red mucous or red urine?? cos if it was red urine then you could just have a UTI. I had that when pregnant with Bay but it was only red urine and not red mucous. Could also be an irritation of the cervix.

Hopefully as long as there is no cramping and the bleeding doesn't have any clotting (big or small) you should be fine.
Don't want to put a damper on it, but I started bleeding (with cramps) at 12 weeks, just a few days before my 12 week scan, and it got worse, then at my scan it showed my baby hadn't grown since about 8 1/2 weeks and I was finally m/c.
Sending best wishes and hoping that its just a wee bleed - so many women get it during pregnancy! My MIL told me that she bled right through when she had my DH! Scary!

Well I have had no cramping (apart from severe ones last weekend for 10mins,after sex- hope its not related) and have pretty much stopped bleeding apart from a little bit of brown blood overnight. It really freaked me out especially because the water was very very pink and DP was out. It was definitly not in my urine but pretty much gushed out when I sat on the loo. I have a scan booked for friday so should just wait it out till then. Its gonna be hard to concentrate on my exams this week! Thanks everyone for your replys.

With no cramping and bleeding settling, it sounds like you'll be okay. But take this week easy and roll on Friday!

lol nzpiper - "special cuddles"
with my first pregnancy i actually got my period till i was about 5 months!!
and this time i had bleeding not much but a little at 4,8,11 weeks, it all turned out ok tho (obviously) and due to the bleeding my scan was brought forward too which was neat.
but yea its freaky, but could be a UTI if it was quite red and the water was it probably a UTI co drink lots of water lots and lots of water to flush it out

I had three lots of bleeding with the gremlins, at 5, 9 and 25 weeks. After the 9 week bleed my midwife told me that first tri bleeding often comes from the mother not the baby and is common around the times your periods would have been due.
Best of luck with your scan this week Topsy!

i first bled at week 7 and then did again a little later (tried to blank it all out!!!)
Turned out mine was a UTI that lasted entire pregnancy - my advice get onto any UTIs quickly - despite me doing that I kept getting them back....not a good thing to have!
good sign that there is no cramping too btw...
