Quick question for you who actually have babies

Im planning on breastfeeding (although after reading some of the posts around here, I might do one bottle feed a day to get her used to a bottle!) .

However I am returning to work so Ill express and DH who will be the SAHD will feed her....

Now to my question, how many bottles do you need if you only want to do one dishwasher load a day?

Random question I know, but we are trying to get everything together before we go down to one wage.

Thanks

lots! Lol! Probably better to put the $ in a "Money for bottles" tin, and wait to see which ones baby will like best! They can be fussy little creatures!

Long story but I fed Gina expressed breast milk from the begining. You'll need to use a bottle sterliser (sp?) for at least the first 3 months or so (we still do) so it's just as easy to wash the bottles by hand - all you need is a bowl to fill with soapy water and a bottle brush! Kellz is also right - bub may not like the bottles you choose - it may take a few tries to find the right one so it pays not to over-stock on them.

Yeah I ended up expressing all my feeds (long story here too) and found that I got buy with 4 bottles, I also bought some avent breastmilk freezer pots, these combine with their bottles and pump and came in very handy so that bottles weren't being used up for storage. 10 pots were about $30 bucks from pharmacy. If you are intending to express a lot of feeds then it might be worth investing in a double electric pump, I bought a medela one from breastmates.co.nz and this definately helped me give breastmilk to bub for longer.

6 Avent bottles should be heaps, and if you start with them from early on bubs shouldn't be too fussy about the type of bottle. I used to do one big bottle wash and sterilise at night, but now I just throw them in the dishwasher.
