I'm working on our single income budget at the moment, and I have two things to say ...
Firstly, I have a headache 
Secondly ... it's more a noise than anything ... *gulp* !!

No more exorbitantly priced, lovely kitchen utensils for a while huh?
It will be ok, you'll be too tired to eat or go out or stay awake for a movie and when you are conscious and coherent you can just sit there being completely entertained by your wee bundle of cute.

haha i'm wondering that now that i have a 5 yr old that eats us out of house and home and am the only breadwinner till march!

Ginger, they are right though - you do find so many things to cut out that are wants not needs, and then you look back and go "man, why the heck didn't we save all that money back then!"

Erm ... Noooo ...
Actually, it's been quite a good year for us, in a *very* roundabout sort of way - we've had some big and unexpected expenses, and DH's work put a ban on overtime about 6 months ago (right around the time we decided that we could afford our obstetrician with a bit (Heh. A lot!) of overtime to help out ) and so I've been cutting back all over the place.
I just have to try and stay away from Nature Baby and hope that I don't grow out of any more maternity clothes until I've finished work - it doesn't matter if my stomach hangs out at home

I totally agree. While working out our budget when I was still pregnant there was no way I could possibly be a stay home Mum. But in reality it ended up being quite different.
I have no idea what we used to do with all our income, especially now that 3 of us are living on less than half of it!

I have an alternative food source for DH...... BREAST MILK!!!
If it's good enough for the baby surely it's good enough for DH. Breast milkshakes, breast milk icecream, creme of breast milk brulee, bread and breast milk pudding..... the list could go on.

milk icecubes instead of the water ones by mistake!

Eek! I will stop complaining instantly
I know it's probably not the best suggestion, but could/would/is it worth your DH even flipping burgers for a few months while you are on maternity leave (and at home) to boost your income? Would that affect things? Or are you better to go through WFF or something like that?

Oh, and Jo, the husband just blinked at me and looked at my boobs far too curiously when I told him he was being put on a breast milk diet next year
So, I'm opting for making our own muesli instead, for a start

We did think about it .. but luckily we can manage to save enough between now and when I go on maternity leave to tide us over till I return to work
(Although definately no swanky or even budget kitchen utensils for us)

I remember how hard a newborn can be .. so Im thinking I will forgo kitchen utensils for an extra pair of DH hands to help

I know what you mean, I'm so glad DH will be around in the mornings to help out then I just have 6hrs from when he leaves for work and when Michaela goes to bed and I've already decided to alter our main meal of the day to lunchtime when we're all together so dinners will be simple.
I'm dreading Michaela dropping her daytime sleep though. Currently she has 2hrs+ when DH leaves for work. That would be one of the advantages of having them close in age, the chance that they'll both sleep at the same time so you can too. Then again Michaela's really good and there have been a couple of times recently when I fell asleep while I was meant to be playing with her and she didn't destroy the house
