Topic: Camping anyone? Posted: 19 January 2010 at 11:02am |
Its my birthday soon and Im having another babe and the hot weather is finally here! so Id love to sneak away somewhere and spend a few days with our lovely girly on her own before her life gets turned upside down with a sibling
Would have to have cabins or hire houses even caravans , preferably sea as opposed to a lake and be no more than 3 hours drive from Auckland
any ideas??

We love Pataua South, great for kiddies as there's a lagoon plus two surf beaches within a very short walk of the campsite. Fairly basic facilities but it is camping after all About half an hour from Whangarei and even less distance to the pub

haha yeah then maybe pataua isn't such a great plan when we camp up there occasionally we'll head back to parua bay for a meal there!
Mangawhai Heads is another great one for kids? Closer too. Otherwise, depending on how basic you want to go, there's Shakespear or Tawharanui Regional Parks... we used to love camping at Te Muri Bay at Mahurangi West but given you have to carry everything in over an estuary I wouldn't do it with a little sproglet in tow.

Agree with weegee - Mangawhai Heads - we got a family batch up there.. spent time with my niece this year at the estuary - great for kids.
Will be spending this xmas up there with our newbie
Camp ground right on the estuary edge

We've just been to Raglan - 2 hours drive, great campsite near town, good swimming beach
