I have just started ttc my 3rd baby and have just moved to pakuranga which is in manukau. Before i lived in the auckland area. Both my kids were born in auckland hospital and id like to have the rest of my children there. I know the hospital well as i spent a few days in there before my daughter was born and afterwards due to complications in the pregnancy and she was born with a malformation which can luckily be fixed. From our house it is actually quicker to get to auckland hospital than it is to get to middlemore.
Also can midwives birth at any hospital? because id like to use the same midwife i used with my other 2 children but she is based in auckland
you can birth where you want... i lived in south auckland but had my kids at auckland. not all midwives can birth at all hospitals or units though. but if the mw you want attended your births at auckland already sounds like she would be ok.
You can birth where you want but make sure you ask your MW if she births there, I'm down in Wellington and had my pick of 3 hospitals but my MW would only birth at 2 of them.
