We're with Tower. We don't claim on any contents below $500 and we don't pay an excess. We don't claim on anything less than $1000 on the house and we have no excess either. We chose to do it that way coz when we went through everything we owned we realised the stuff we would be claiming on was worth more than $500 anywayand it cut our premiums alot.
I also pay $35 a year and my glasses are completely covered with no excess so scratch or total annihilation they get replaced.
The glasses extension sounds like a good idea, kinda like the window extension on your car! I hated talking to the insurers when I brought my new car. They made me feel like I was trying to rip them off before I had even decided to go with them!
