Doctors visits should be free if it is pregnancy related visit. We paid $30 (I think) for each ultrasound.

Md appointment are free for the first 12 weeks and after that time you'll see your LMC for any preg related appointments anyway which are free.

I think that you get one free ultrasound and any others are subsidised and cost about $40 (but don't quote me as I haven't had one in nearly 3 years).

Other than that there's your folic acid prescription (about $3) but I can't think of anything else you need.  You may want to spend some money on stretchmark creams but they're not necessary.

Visits to your LMC are free. We paid $25 dollars for scans - if you have more than three for any reason they are free. If you choose to take preg vitamins or use something like bio oil or cocoa butter on your tummy there is a cost for that. Also maternity clothes - buying on trade me can save money. Other than that just the cost of any baby things you need to buy.

If you get referred by your midwife, your ultrasounds SHOULD be free... Horizons at Botany does them and there is a scanning place on Dominion Road that do them for free at least

You are entitled to 10 extra days for leave to do with pregnancy, not much but might help with ms.

fleury - yep but they're unpaid, so it could be good to keep some funds aside to cover any income you lose as a result of unpaid leave...

Ultrasound vary GREATLY throughout NZ. For example, where I go, they are free free for under 12 weeks.

And not too sure about other parts of the country, but doctors are not free anymore for pregnancy issues.

Henna - I just saw you are from Hamilton....which doctors do you go to if you don't mind me asking. I also live in Hamilton and my doctor gives one free visit for maternity, and charges the rest. It was also the at one other place I phoned too.
