Does it matter where in the nursery the cot is placed. i.e. does it have to be placed against the wall. I just started building our cot up and realised that it is too big for where it was meant to go so I need to juggle all the furniture around
Yup not under a window. Plus think about how hot the room gets during the day with sun, DDs room catches all the sun from sunrise until about 1-2pm and so her room can heat up to 27 degrees! Even with the windows open and it wasn't until I went in one day and realised what the temp was she had bright red cheeks! Her cot was placed on the wall opposite the window but gets all the sun so I have since moved her to an adjacent wall. HTH.
We put the cot in the corner of the room on the 2 internal walls so no draught. His room is pretty small so there werent many options, but I did put the cot in first and had to move the other furniture around it.
Not by a window or external wall if you can avoid it. Although didn't know that with DD and she was sleeping on an external wall as I could see it from bed
Definitely not by a window because of the curtain or blind cords. Toddlers can hang themselves if they play with them & get caught up. Best that the cot is against an internal wall rather than an external one for warmth.
we had bubs bassinet then his cot by the door and we slept with the door wide open, so we could hear our girls if they needed us...however since he got really sick and had to be hospitalised we moved him into bed with us, moved his cot to the far corner and wall (way away from the door and windows) and now he sleeps better. We wish we had thought of it before but we weren't "thinking"..duh, so now we have another on the way we're trying to figure out how to re-arrange the room again...lol All the best, you're doing better than we did thinking about the layout
