    Posted: 17 November 2006 at 11:04am
Hey all
I have just had my day 21 progesterone bloods yesterday (3rd cycle since I started having them taken) and was wondering if anyone knew the amount they should be at if I have ovulated. The nurse who gave me the results had NO clue, so I may have to wait till my next specialist appointment (on the 27th).
Cheers!

Depends how long your cycle is. I did mine on day 18 as I have a short cycle.

Hey girls, my cycles are all over the place, so we don't actually know that I'm having my tests done at the right time anyway. My cycle can range from 21 days to the high 50's! *sigh*

Travelgirl, what were your results?

I've had day 23, day 22 AND day 21 for a 28/29 day cycle ... I think it depends on who orders them

Well, Just had the nurse ring, my blood results show that I have not ovulated...... On the scale of TTC - I know that this is NOT good, but where too from here?
Can anyone help? Once I go to the DR is there anything I should ask for specifically?

Hi Travelgirl

I had exactly the same problem - the doctor never mentioned it but referred me to fertility plus and they told me. So they put me on Clomid, which by itself didn't work and so they started giving me a HCG trigger injection at the right time each month which finally showed that I'd ovulated!! Still waiting for that to convert to a pregnancy but at least it is a step in the right direction. So don't worry there are definetly options for them to try with you.

Good luck.

If you havent been diagnosed with fertility issues normally nothing happens until you have been trying for a year. I demanded to be referred to a specialist before i was TTC for my endo and when i had that removed we discussed kids and i stuck with ehr and she said if we werent pregnant in 6 months to go see her for clomid. I didnt want drugs but caved at 11 months and went on clomid to get pregnant on my first cycle Theres so many variables out there. Id start with talking to your GP/Specialist about your situation and what you want to do.

Well, the results were:
FSH 6.75 U/L
Progesterone 1.4nmol/L
Prolactin 129mU/L
Testosterone 2.8nmol/L
LH 17.2 U/L

Ovulation unlikely.......... My GP is going to refer me to the OB/Gyn clinic at the local hostpital, but he says that as I am only 25 and DH is nearly 29, and we have only been trying since Dec 05 with a 2 month break, that that is about all he can do. He also said that this is not conclusive evidence that I have PCOS....... I was really annoyed last night, I felt like he was fobbing me off. Bring on Dr. Veejay the OB/Gyn from all accounts he is excellent.

So.... can any one explain in simple english the above results...... other than "Ovulation unlikely" like the Dr did?

TIA
Anna

Travelgirl, I had always had problems with going to the doctors for info. Especially because I am overweight, the only thing they really say is 'lose weight'. Yeah, easier said than done when you have PCOS.
Anyhoo, my first months results were 5, second was 1, and third was 14. So not very consistant at all, and I really have no idea what it means. So basically, When I have my specialist appointment next week, I am going to get some answers!

Booweeza, I know exactly what you mean about trying to loose weight, Try as I might, ever since going off the pill last year, I havn't been able to shift more than 1 or 2 kilos, my GP said even 4-5 kgs lost would be good, but other than running myself to the ground, I don't know what else to do. I also have issues with the way they measure your BMI, coz I have ALOT of muscle which is heavier than fat, so natuarally I have a higher than average BMI. Oh the frustrations. I'm just so sick of my GP never giving me a conclusive diagnosis. I have sh*te blood results, and 1 ovary is 3 times bigger than the other as per the scan on CD2 and it has lots of cysts on it - Surely it should be simple. If no-one will help me with the fertility side of things for another who knows haw many months, at least someone could make the pain go away!!!!

Sorry for the rant!
