Topic: day from hell Posted: 09 November 2006 at 8:55pm |
Have had a rough day today! Taine is sick - just a cold and I think Jake is heading down that road too. Anyway, Taine wanted to sit and be held all day and Jake was whining and horrible and it feels so mean telling him off and he cries cause I know he is getting sick. Then i feel guilty. Anyway with all this going on, we decide its a good idea to make the boys share a room from now on. Taine has been sleeping heavily so seriously thought it was a good idea - i know i know, maybe I'm getting sick too. Anyway at 6 put Taine down, no probs, then at 7 went to put Jake down and up comes Taine's head and he starts screaming. Jake gave me the funniest look - looks at Taine, looks at me with a clear look saying "you want me to sleep where now?" anyway he took off and I comforted Taine. put Taine back in the crib where he screamed again and found Jake lying on the king bed that is in his "old" room. I got him out and put him in his bed, put Taine in his bed and shut the door. Taine continued screaming and then I hear jake yelling "Taine, no no nono" and a little knock on the door. Jake with his Bob doll nad his blanket - moving out obviously. So i ended up putting him in the spare room as he really wanted to go to sleep and held Taine for another thirty minutes, then waited another thiry minutes until he finally went to sleep. am exhausted after today!!!!
on the cheering up thing though, got my secret santa pressie today. woohoo! and got a letter from a mate I havent' heard from in ages, AND got some biscuits in the post fromMum. so not all bad I suppose.
AND pixie photos are finally in Gisborne for five days only and my kids are all crusty and leaving snot trails on things.
AND had a meningitis scare! Stripped Taine down caus ehe had a fever. After a few minutes decided to check on him for rashes...and saw one. I freaked out and was about to call Lewis. decided to try that glass test, only to find the "rash" was dripped pamol with dirt from my unvacuumed carpet stuck. So washed it off. and put the phone back.

Yep... I think it's from 4 months on (I think). It dries runny noses etc and helps them sleep.
It isn't for coughs tho, which is a pain in the butt.

Update: Have decided the boys will have a nap together...one hour later I can hear Jake playing with a ball and Taine is yelling. i refuse to go in. Less because i know they need to sleep - more for I need a break. what they need to realise is that my need for a break overthrows any guilt i may feel about putting them in there.

Hehe Liz - I was about to ask if the need for the liquor store was for you or the boys? A stiff gin might put them both to sleep

Jake has deteriorated. he is quite sick now. Taine is still snotty but better. I ended up getting Jake up and he slept in "his" king sized bed from 1-4pm. i ended up having to wake him. Anyway, he ASKED to go to bed at 6:30 - didnt want tea, so both of them very quietly went to bed. i can hear Taine playing in his cot with his rattle, but Jake is out to it I think.

Oh Liz I feel for ya - even though some things in your first post made me crack up (like "moving out" lol)! My girls both got a cold a week ago and it developed rather quickly into ear infections. Briona has been Miss Misery Gutts all week and it has driven me crazy. Finally she felt okay enough today and I even heard her giggle - now that's serious!
Dimetapp does work a treat for clearing up colds. My bottle gives the suggested amounts for children 1yr+ You could try Vicks in the meantime but if you're all being driven crazy, a quick trip to the Doctor followed by the pharmacy may help everyone's peace of mind.
Could you delay putting the kids in together until they are well? Another week might be all they need. My girls usually play together all the time but this last week has been disastrous any time they get near each other.

Oh no, colds must be going round, every little kid I know of has it including my husband. I didnt realise demazin is going to be presciption only, I used to use it all the time when kobe was sick.
Just out of curiousity is there any reason you are putting them into the same room? did i miss something there?
