Hi there,

Just a quick question for those of you with a double mountain buggy. We have a Phil and Ted with the doubles kit for our 3.5 and 1.5 year olds. We are going to Wellington for a holiday and I was looking at hiring a double MB for the week as then my 1.5yr old can sleep easily while we trek round the place.

What I wanted to know was how easily do these fold up etc? We will be using the bus a bit and I have no idea about pushchairs on buses?? Will we just be creating a huge problem for ourselves by having a double MB??

The problem with our P & T is that our 1.5 yr old finds it very hard to sleep in the back now and our 3.5 yr old isn't that good at walking a long way so need both to be in buggy and one to be able to sleep.

Thanks very much

I looked at buying one on the weekend, and the fold on it was huge - it wouldn't even fit in our boot. I'm not sure about Wellington buses but there is no way you'd be able to fit one down the aisle on an Auckland bus, so would mean folding before getting on the bus, and a big space needed to store it on the bus so no good during peak hour.

Is it worth taking two prams, the P&T and an umbrella stroller than reclines instead? (am assuming that there will be two of you to push two prams!)

As much as I love my Double MB I have to say they're pretty cumbersome and I wouldn't welcome the idea of attempting a bus with it.

I have a double umbrella stroller that reclines which I'm happy to loan for the week. My girls refuse to sleep in it though Harry might be a bit more cooperative.

Thanks Tishy! I will get back to you on that. My friend has offered me her umbrella stroller ( single) but I figure Char can just walk when we go to the zoo and we will take our P&T for other stuff when we are not going on the bus.

Thanks so much for the offer, if you could sort the weather out for the next few days that would be great too!!!

Thanks too Febgirl, I thought as much but thought I would check anyway

The Zoo has hills and I'm lazy.
I never take the buggy when we go and make the girls walk.

The zoo also hire buggies.

I went from a P&T to MB, spent over $1200 on the latest model only to have the 3yr old not sit in it for more than 2 outing. I hated it as I had to take the wheels off it to get it in the boot, it was so heavy & took up too much room when walking, I could not get into some places, some foot paths were too small.

I would use the P&T as it is smaller & easier to use when out & about. Your older child may walk more & the younger one can sleep in main seat & then swap them when needed.

I would seriously think about what will be easier.
