Hi girls!

just a quick question, Megan how do you find your Moby Wrap?

I have a peanut shell sling which I love the look of, but Cooper looks really uncomfy in it! I want a sling to use when we go to Sydney in December, and I wonder if a Moby Wrap is more suitable for a bigger baby?

What do you think?

My MW was just here, and after losing 160g in the first week Kaia gained 200g in the second, and is now 7lb 8oz. So 2oz up from her birth weight. I know that her gain is right on average but I can't help but be a little disappointed that she hasn't gained more, considering how much she seems to take in at each feed! Still, I'm happy that she is healthy and on track

DH convinced me to take some panadol and then go and have a nap earlier; I managed to sleep for 3 hours and have less of a headache than I did before which is awesome. Also, he tidied the whole house (including doing the vacuuming which I somehow managed to sleep through), and has dinner sorted out.

I love my Moby Wrap! However, the one thing I would say is it is better suited for longer walks as it does take a decent bit of time to get on and off (ie it's not something I would choose to use to just run into the chemist or something)

There are lots of different ways to wrap it but Ryan always seems really happy in there when I wrap him up.

Asli can you tell me your thoughts about the Gold formula...PM me if you are not keen to go public!!! Just want to know as that was the first one I grabbed but if you know more about them I would love to know - the non gold ones are cheaper, so if they are not doing anything extra special for her there may be no point to getting gold and Sheena said something about upsetting babies tummies.....

hey Bec ... re the wipes and the nappy rash, Abi got this once and we stopped using wipes. Now we have what looks like Chux cloth, bought in a roll from Placemakers and cut up into small cloths. We just wet this with warm water each time, put them in a bucket with a little nappy san when they've been used and chuck them in the wash when necessary - no more nappy rash - and cheap!

Have a look in the bottle babies thread Nix the girls in there will be able to give you great advice on formula.

But a lot of babies do get upset tummys on the GOLD stuff, Caden did, I really think the plain formula's are the ebst bet for such little babies. But with formula, its trial and error Im afraid, I went through a few brands until we settled on S26 for Caden, wished I had used it from the start, its a great formula.

Hi girls,
Plunket came today (a surprise) and Mase has gained another 300gm. She also gave me a tip - when he has hiccups that are annoying him or holding back wind, put him into Tummy Time.

It worked a treat - only a couple of moments and all was back to normal!

Fiona, I'll PM you my numbers. If it will help, I'll gladly spend some time with your girls to let you get some sleep.

Well I give up!

My baby is now a formula at night time baby. I tried and tired, and do feel pretty guilty about it. But I'm over sitting around from 4pm-7/8pm just for her to get filled up. Both of us have learnt bad habits of having lots of small feeeds every 1-2 hour in the day from when she had her tongue tie- and no matter what i try it's just not going to work.

It's been a crappy day, no sleep for anyone and it;s probably been the first day I have had to put her down when crying as was feeling too frustrated to have her.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day. She is always such a delight inthe mornings so I always look forward to that.

Formula- We use the Karicare plain stuff. And we havent had any problems when we have used it.

Cute babies above!

Right off for a bath and bed.

Am feeling like I lost the baby lottery at the moment. Honestly, Ryan was pretty much up from 1 to 7am grizzling and moaning and shrieking and crying. He acted like he was hungry but then didn't really want any of it. Didn't really look like gas. Argh!

He's asleep now but doesn't seem to last longer than 20 minutes which is driving me insane. If they wake up part way through a nap do you just let them cry for awhile to see if they'll fall back asleep?

Hi Guys,

Don't know whether to say I am sorry to report...but after a still wakeful night between 6 and 10.30 we got two 5 hour sleeps....only thing is I don't know whether it is the new Blue Lid standard Heinz Nuture Formula (as we started trying that last night) or whether it was the colic medicine or a fluke!.....bugger....

PS: Cutie little fella Cassy Jay - I look forward to seeing him in person in a couple of months!

PPS: Smurfling, Kaia looks like a cheeky wee monkey - very pretty bubba!

PPPS: Mollycat - Not that by any means I am a professional on babies as you can see by all my questions - but sometimes Georgia cries a little in her sleep so I would say maybe to leave him for 5 mins or so to see if it is just a dream......

Hrm, it may sound mean but we've taken to occassionally letting Alexander cry if we know he's fed, changed and tired. Esp. if he is overtired! At nights I sometimes feed him EBM out of a bottle so I know he's taking food and then when he's completely full and won't take anymore put him down. It's worked for us a couple of times although whether you can handle that in the middle of the night!? I hope it gets better for you

Megan - *hugs* to you what a rough night! I havent let Cooper cry much so far...naughty me! But I find I dont need to because he has a dummy and that tends to help settle him. Not sure if you are using a dummy and forgive me if you think i am out of line, but you could try that OR i have found letting Cooper suck on my (clean) little finger helps to settle him quite well, and it also helps to find out if he is actually hungry or just wants comfort. If he is hungry the dummy or the finger just dont cut it!

Wouldnt it be nice if they could tell us what was wrong!

Cute pics everyone! Must go put an updated one up :-)

Do babies go on hungerstrikes?? Kaia finished a feed at 10pm and was down until 2am, but she refused to have anything so after a while of trying I gave her her dummy and she was asleep within minutes. Same thing happened at 7am, and now I can hear her starting to stir so I'll find out soon enough if she'll want anything now. I don't know what to do, she seems happy enough with the dummy but it has been 12 hours since her last real feed (I'm sure she managed to at least take in a little bit at the times I tried during the night). She has been such an easy baby to feed up until now, and she hasn't been crying so I don't think she's in pain or gassy or anything. I'm starting to get really worried, maybe I should try a bottle or something so I'll be able to see exactly how much she's taking in?

I'm almost afraid to type this post in case I jinx us... but we have had 2 successful days out meeting girls from our antenatal groups which I've really enjoyed. Jack seems to be mostly sleeping for 2-3 hour stretches which I can cope with as long as I nap during the day. He's feeding like a pro, has a grizzly spell early evening but otherwise seems a generally contented and placid little boy.

I am loving every single second

Am starting to use my Honey Childs and Fuzzi Bunz nappies during the day as I'm sure it's the papery material on the disposables that are giving him a wee rash on his legs and tummy. However am learning as I go as to how the inserts need to be and which domes to be doing them up on. Stuffed one up completely and he did a monster pee that completely leaked and soaked his bed. Trial and error for a few days I think, hence not trying them at night.

Got our Bounty pack yesterday, haven't gone through it yet. Anyone else got theirs? Also bought a nappy bag, so will get that kitted out shortly.

Gorgeous day here - hope everyone is having a good day with plentiful nap opportunities!!!

Rach- Yup she fed heaps yesterday, and had a successful feed just after I posted so I'm feeling a lot better now! It was pretty scary though, I was really worried that something was wrong. Oh well, at least my little princess is now well fed
