Lucky Liam's arrival

Right I'll start from the start. Started getting contractions at 8.30pm on 4 March (which once again I thought were probably the BH's tricking me). Well anyway after about 1/2 an hour I decided that nup this could be the real thing. Went to the loo (TMI) and had a bit of a clean out so to speak, and DH had made me some dessert, I thought about eating it and then he said to me you don't feel like it do you, and I said yip you're right I don't, so flagged that and jumped in the bath instead. In that time had had a bit of a show and the contractions were 1 min 15 secs apart within 1/2 an hour they were coming every 30 secs lasting for 30 secs. So rang the mw for the second time and we made our way to the hospital after DH's parents had arrived to look after Lockie. Made it to the hospital in record time (we are still awaiting any speeding tickets that might follow). Got there just before 10.30pm. Mw examined me about 11pm and I was 5cm dialated. All was going well at this stage and I said to her I really need this epidural, the gas was good but the contractions were that intense that even my mw said an epidural would be a good thing. Wll by 12am I was 9cm, she then broke my waters and put a clip on babies head to moniter his heart rate better. It had been on there for no longer than 5mins and his heart rate went down to 70. They initially thought that he was lying on the cord so rolled me from left to right buy it made no difference. Before we knew it the red button had been pushed and we were rushed into have an emergency c-section.

So to cut a long story short, they got bub out who had been without oxygen for 4 mins and they found that I had bleeding behind the placenta which had cut off bubs supply. But that's not the end of the story while they were getting bubs out a hole was made in my bladder as due to my previous section it had knitted together on my uterus (a common thing for organs to knit together). Liam was born at 12.53am on 5 March weighing a healthy 8lb 14oz and 57cm. I've had a lot of comments from people saying "where did you hide him".

I'm feeling really good about things and trying not to think what if as the bleed could have happened anywhere at anytime so we were definately in the right place at the right time and have a happy story to share. I think my midwife was just awesome the way she handled things. As something like this isn't very common the surgical team were quite shaken along with my midwife. My midwife did a delivery the next day in Rangiora that went really well. She said she needed it and felt reassured that things could go right.

Right had better go and wake my boy as he has been asleep since 2.30pm and the other one is just getting out of the bath now.

4 hours 24 mins. My mw reckons if things had all gone to plan then I would have been pushing in another hours time. Oh well these things just weren't meant to be.

Still sore but got the drugs to help me out.

Wow Dawn, that sounds like a scary thing to go through! I'm glad that things worked out well in the end, and that you are feeling OK about things - as you said a wee while ago, the main thing is that your baby (& you) are safe and healthy.

Glad to hear that everything worked out for the best Dawn and you are at home now.

I am thinking I should go and buy a pineapple as well...am soo tired today so am going to go have a nana nap as soon as emma falls asleep. At the moment she is grizzling in her bed...miss independant at the moment, so wasn't keen on going to bed. I know she is tired and will fall asleep soon.

My SIL still hasn't popped..she was due last wednesday. We went for a walk this morning and she doesn't feel that bubs is ready to come out either....bummer I say. It is her #3 so she still has to run around after a 1 and a 3 year old.

Wow I also just realised I am down to single digits...exciting stuff....8 days still due date.

Emma I hope things happen soon for you with your due date being tomorrow. You never know things might come on all of a sudden like they did with me. We never did get around to the sex thing.

Yay for your bedroom Daph you must be stoked.

Had a nana nap this arvo while both my boys were asleep. I didn't even hear Lockie wake up, DH must have been on the ball.

Tishy your girls look like they have grown so much. According to mw's scales Liam is now 9lb 2oz. What a piggie wiggie.

Glad to hear your home safe Dawn, and you and the new baby are doing well.

I think I am finally ready to have this baby, will get my bags packed tomorrow. Went shopping for everything else I needed which was fun, but ended up spending sooo much money. I dont think I had half as much stuff for Keira.
Had my baby shower yesterday which was really nice. It was so nice to have my sisters do something for me for a change, they had heaps of fun games organised

Keiras sick AGAIN We have been dragging her around the last few days but she really hasnt been up to doing anything, hopefully tomorrow we'll be able to have a quiet day. I really hope shes better before the baby comes. And me too, I still have a horrible cold that I just cant get rid of

Hope something happens soon for all those ready to have their babies. I feel like I still have forever to wait.

Oh and Tishy, your babies are looking so cute, they are growing up soo fast! I love the holding hands.

OK I'm joining the 'So ready for this baby' club! I'm feeling really big and get tired so easily. Poor Ollie has been plonked in front of the tv quite a bit today (just as well I've been recording 'Blue's Clue's' & 'In the Night Garden' his 2 new favourite shows). I actually napped today for about 45 mins while Ollie was sleeping, woke and was about to fall back to sleep again but heard Ollie calling out so thought I'd better get up. Argh stop complaining Daphne, I should feel lucky that I'm not really over due like some women, that must be REALLY hard.

Has anyone heard from Claire? I wonder if things are happening for her - sending you loads of baby vibes Claire

Emma - Happy Due Day for tomorrow! Did you hear that miss Renee? - tomorrow is eviction day!

Dawn - What a wee champ Liam is, already above his birth weight! You must have some good milk there! (I'm just assuming you're bf?)

Christy - Sounds like you had a good time at your baby shower. Bigs hugs to you and Keira - I hope you both start feeling better soon.

I got Stu to take some more belly pics tonight.

Warning: I'm posting a bare belly shot! Eek I didn't think I would, but its sepia toned so helps to disguise the stretch marks!

38 wks & 6 days

ETA: If you're interested, here is a link to a pic of my belly at about the same time with Ollie

Morning all, well according to my log in on Oh Baby my baby has been born... I blooming wish, I am beyond ready and well my hormones are all over the place, I found myself starting laughing yesterday which quickly turned into a weird sort of cry, omg poor dh....!!!!

Daphne cool bump shots, I need to get dh to take some but now I've finally packed my hospital bag the camera is tucked away in there somewhere... I hear you about poor Ollie and the tv, Ben is the same at the moment I keep resorting to his Hi 5 dvd just because I need the rest but feel so stink and he adores blues clues and in the night garden as well so i get an hour rest in the mornings! ( what did they do before tv aye...!

Off to music this morning so "ohhh you still haven't had it" comments will be coming thick and fast especially after last week and me declaring I would definately not be going another week...whooops!

Hope everyone gets some rest today

I love your bump shots Daph. So do you think you are carrying the same as you did with Ollie? I've been getting people saying to me now "I so knew you were having a boy just by the way you were carrying" - yeah right!!!

Emma - sending you labour vibes, hope things happen soon for you. Was that your scan date?

Christy - Hope Keira gets better soon and you get over your cold. How cool having a baby shower, I didn't have one this time around, turns out I didn't need anything new anyway and the presents still keep rolling in now.
