Topic: Eek help!!! what to wear ?! Posted: 04 December 2009 at 9:53am |
For DHs christmas work function thing , we are going to the races ,and will be in some box or room whatever you call it where the tickets are $160 per person.
What the hell do I wear ?? anyone been and know what to wear , or got any ideas ?
do they prefer all black dresses , or can you add a bit of colour in there ?
Any advice would be great , thanks !!!

You canabsolutely wear colour, usually just not strapless or anything too revealing.

Colour is fine. But make sure you are wearing a 'day dress' rather than something for night time (ie. something with straps, that isn't cut too low).
Also although you will be in the boxes, you are bound to be walking in grass at some point during the day so avoid anything with a spiky heel.

Are you going to Ellerslie or Alexandra Park, Ellerslie you can get dressed up as much as you like, don't forget your hat. Alexandra Park isn't quite so ott when it comes to fashion.

The black and green is lovely, and slightly dressier then the blue.

The dresses are pretty Definitely go for the fancy hair/fascinator/hat as well. Days at the races are mega fun!

We have our Xmas function at the races every year and I go for a black dress but most are in colours. It is a dressy occasion - heels, make up etc. Quite a lot of people wear a hat. Some of the very young women with fantastic figures do the strappy dress, high heels, make up, hair done, hat whole shabang.
