hi ladies, i found out i have endo about 4.5 yrs ago after i was hospitalised screaming in pain.
they told me there was a slim chance i would be able to concieve naturally again, so when dh and i started trying we thought it may take a while, but we got PG the first month! the doctor was utterly stunned!
were going to TTC#3 early next year

Hi Chelle
Yes I had my lap on Tuesday. Still feeling quite sore today but am getting better. I have to say that this one has been more painful than the one I had to remove my gallbladder but from what he told me he had to do quite a bit of work in there. He found endo under my ovaries on both sides and in the cavity behind my uterus, he also found adhesions where I'd had my gallbladder removed and on my bowel (which he said I was probably born with but he removed anyway). He said the worst of it was in the cavity behind the uterus and because of that he gave me a stage 3 classification. He also said that my ovaries had dropped down into the deep pelvis so he pulled them up and stitched them in place and wants to do another lap in 3 months to make sure they have stayed in place.

Does that mean you can start TTC from this month?
What do your results mean in terms of fertility and being on the waiting list? If too personal, no worries :)

He already said that we couldn't TTC for 1 month after the lap. Fortunately I had AF during the lap so it will only take us out for 1 cycle. But I'm assuming if he wants to do another lap in 3 months that we can't TTC until after that. We didn't really talk about it much so will ask him at my next appointment (which is in 1 month).
As for fertility it should improve things. He didn't find any endo in my ovaries or tubes and he said my uterus is fine so everything looks ok. I'm assuming that the reason we haven't conceived yet is because my ovaries were being pulled down. He did tell me at my original appointment that I had a cyst on one side which quite often pulls the ovary down so the egg can't get out. Given that he said he pulled both of my ovaries up I guess both were hanging down. So if they stay up we should be good in terms of fertility. He basically said at my original appointment that fertility rates double after surgery and we should try for 6 months on our own and then move onto IVF. Not sure what our chances of public funding will be given that I have stage 3 endo but none of it was found in my ovaries or tubes. So its just back to waiting - waiting to see when we can TTC again, waiting to TTC, waiting to see if we can do it naturally, if not waiting for IVF. Infertility certainly teaches you patience - if nothing else!!

Totally agree about it teaching you patience!! I'm figuring that's some kind of life lesson I'm learning right now too. Good to hear the lap doubles your chances - yay!!!
I've got my next appointment in about 1 1/2 weeks and then I think we'll be booking my lap, then waiting for that.... hopefully insurance comes through and it won't be too long. He mentioned we could do it the next week if it was private so that's goal one for me!! I think then he wants me to try clomid, but I'm not sure how long after the lap I wait till I do that. I'll try and remember to ask next time.

We're going to keep trying the natural route. All my blood tests have come back normal and I'm definitely ovulating so at this stage there's no reason to think there's any problems other than the endo. If we don't get pg within 6 months though I'll be going back to the fertility specialist.

Sounds like you are very similar to me Emily so I'll be watching how you go with doubled interest! My specialist is predicting I'll be grade 3 as well and after a fertility semiar I went to that helps get us enough points for public funding if it does get to IVF... I have also been told about the chances increasing after the lap and I too have good bloods etc so it seems (fingers tightly crossed) that it's just the endo holding things up for me too... and again I was told six months after lap then onto next stage if no BFP by then.
Now I just gotta wait for my surgery - rang to update my contact details and checked on waiting list times - was told they're saying six months though they are actually getting in just under that time, so I'm thinking around Nov/Dec and i'll be all go for me!

Hi angie - I hope you get your surgery soon. I'm kind of hoping that when I go back to see the surgeon he says we don't have to wait until after the second op to TTC again, but I doubt it! So I'll be going back in November and it looks like we'll both be able to get back to TTC at the same time!
