Topic: Evaporation Line vs really faint BFP? Posted: 18 July 2006 at 12:22pm |
Ok everyone, has anyone got any good ideas on how to tell the difference? Other than the whole "don't read it after 10 mins' thing. lol
I POAS just for the hell of it this morning. I really have no idea why I did. Af isn't late, she isn't even due yet in fact, but I have had a few symptoms. I used an el cheapo brand of test, which gave early positives for my last 2 pregnancies. Worst of all, I didnt even use FMU! Actually no, worst of all, is that I didnt check it til after the 10 mins was up, at which time I saw an incredibly faint line. So faint at first that I had to angle the test to see the line. Now, I can see it (just) if I look straight on at the test.
I am working on the theory it's an evap line, but am wondering if there is anyway I can be sure. Do evap lines fade? If I check it later will the line disappear? Is there any other way I can check it? Cos you all know that even though I think it's an evap line, the idea is in my head that it may not be.
I will retest in the next few days I guess. WITH FMU!!!!!

Thanks Mellybelly, I am trying to be as realistic as possible and think it's an evap line, but it does give me hope as well. Argh! What was I thinking!!! heh.
You and I are around the same place in our cycles. I am actually on CD25, but tested pos for both my losses at cd24. heh - yesterday I was even thinking "I don't even feel the need to test, maybe I can hold out this time!" yeah right!
Best of luck to you too!!

I would test again to be sure, but I was worried my VFP (very faint positive) was an evap line, so I did some research through my good friend google. From what I read an evap line tends to be clear while a pregnacy line is coloured, but then with a cheaper test that could be wrong.

What el cheapo brand of test did you use? I used a cheap one too (from the supermarket) and altough the lines were blury (kind of) they were both the same colour. I guess they would also fade at the same rate. We took a photo of mine (first baby pic ) a couple of hours after we tested and altough the lines were faded, they seemed to have faded at the same rate.
Hope this helps - best of luck and loads of baby dust...

i've used the first response brand tests from the supermarket with both my pregnancies, have found them to be really accurate, obviously

Update!
Well, looks like it was an evap line, theres no sign of any kind of second line at all on the test I did this morning. Bummer.
I'm ok with it though, I did a good job on not taking that second line too seriously yesterday. Also, I start clomiphene next cycle, so maybe I'll get lucky then.

Trish - Try to keep a positive frame of mind, you never know, as jacksmum says you could still get a BFP.
Lou - any sign of AF yet?
Still nothing for me, but still a day away, getting some AF feelings so think she'll come this month

Yep AF turned up right on time for me!
I have a series of blood tests and tests for DH to do now, so that should keep us busy and occupied.
Sorry to hear that it's a BFN for now Tarsha, but fingers crossed for you soon
Good luck MellyBelly!
