I have had scans done and my overies look normal but i have all the signs of PCOS and have had blood tests done. SO apparently im kind of PCO but not really coz my overies are fine (if that makes sense to anyone coz it doesnt to me)

I went off the pill in jan this year and have not had a period since. so i have now been refered to FA and now im just waiting.
what can i expect from FA? what do they usually do? I am excited about going coz maybe after that they can sort me out and i can get preggers, but at the same time im scaried. part of what im scariued about is that i might find out that i just can never have kids and the other part of y im scaried is coz i just dont know what to expect and its all new and daunting.

Jem... FA have a good rep and they might recommend that you go on clomid or another medication which will help with your hormones .....   there is the option of having ivf which is not as scary as it sounds

   Hi Jem

I think I read somewhere that since PCOS is a syndrome, you don't have to have all the 'symptoms' to be diagnosed with it. True in my case because I have polycystic ovaries (and I don't ovulate) but do not have increased testosterone.

FA are very good. At our first consultation the doctor took a history of both me and DH - wanted to know about our lifestyles, our weight etc. He had all the notes from the referring doctor, so I didn't need any other investigatory work to figure out what was going on, but DH did have to do a semen analysis. We're on our fourth cycle of Clomid now, and are seeing the doctor next week for a review - as unfortunately I'm still yet to ovulate. I'm hopeful though that the dose that I'm on now will make a difference.

Definately don't worry yet that you'll never have kids - there are so many things they can do to help us now.

The other thing I was thinking too, is that if you're willing to pay for a private consultation (the first one is about $250 in Auckland) then you could just phone and make an appointment (rather than waiting for them to phone you). Good luck and let us know how you get on!

   thanks :)
I ended up ringing them today, it was luck that i did because my appointment is in 2 weeks and they said they sent a letter to me in august. but they sent it to 123 instead of 3/123 so i never got it.
but yay something is hopefully going to happen soon
