Topic: FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW!!! Posted: 30 August 2007 at 9:49am |
Each week, a new child is admitted to starship hospital suffering serious injuries after being bashed, mashed or maimed.
They are overwhelmingly BROWN and they are overwhelmingly MAORI..
This is a big problem within maoridom thats sees more maori children abuse and die each year than any other ethnicity, and at the hand of their own WHANAU..
James Whakaruru, Lillybing, the Kahui twins.- Are all disturbing deaths that show Maori adults killing Maori children..
Child abuse is a stain upon MAORIDOM......
We as a people (maori)need to do more to stop this problem Stop turning a blind eye and pretending it's not happening and that it is not a maori problem because it is!!!!
There are so many overwhelming facts that show us how bad this problem has gotten within our people but do we really need 2 see these facts??? When all you really need 2 do is read the papers watch the news, it is all around us how can you not see the problem??
We need 2 learn from what is going on, so we can see the sign's, so we can hear the cries so we can at long last open our eye's and see the problem before it is 2 late...
We need to save our Maori children with out them there is no future we are nothing....

Very cool, Hubby was reading over my shoulder and said "Gee I sure hope she isn't a pakeha!" That would have been utterly bizarre coming from a whitey like me!
I think it is great you want to speak about your people - our people and spur us into action to protect our indigenous race.

Glow, I'd like to take this one step further and ask WHAT needs to be done?
Obviously steps need to be taken before things like James Whakaruru, Lillybing, the Kahui twins happen but WHAT?
This is something that has been bugging me for a long time...
Teaching and supporting people who are at risk is important but how can you help someone who doesn't think they need it? It can't just be a case of "informing the authorities" becuase these authorities are frequently powerless or don't have the resources to help. Something BIG needs to happen to make a change but what is that something?!

And i mean that in a general New Zealand sense, not just targeting maori... I think it needs to be seen as a NZ issue, not just maori.
