Does anyone here know off hand whether or not Farmers would take credit card details over the phone as payment for stuff?

Rols' mum rung this morning to say hi and catch up (she lives in Colorado), and offered to buy a few things for baby, but basically said we choose what we need, then she'll ring and pay for it.

I know this is kind of short notice to expect an answer, as we are going to go tomorrow (Sunday), and will probably just ask when we get there. But if someone knows for sure, that would be cool...

Either way the alternative is that we buy it on our VISA and she wires us the money into our bank. I know that seems like the easier thing to do in the first place, but I think she *really* wants to pay for it herself directly, you know?

Either way I'm quite excited LOL As it is one (or a few!) less things we have to pay for. We are likely to get some bedding for the cot and bassinette, she wants to make sure we get one of those cream colored pure wool blankets, and we'll pick up one of those ear thermometers as well. YAY !

As a rule, they only take Farmers cards over the phone. I had a HUGE argument with them about it a month or 2 back whe i wanted a matenity singlet they were advertising in a catalogue but didn't have in the blenhiem store. After an angry email to they customer services dept and about 3 agruments with the staff instore, they "made an exception" in the interests of "customer relations"... Good luck!
Yay for Rols mum!!!

Ok so, more than likely we'd have to choose the things and pay in-store ourselves if it's going to be by credit card. I'm always one for a good customer services challenge / argument, but don't have the energy for it right now ! I'm sure in the end she will understand (MIL), and can just wire transfer the money through. My dad actually emailed me (he's a bit of a computer phobe) and offered to send some money through as a wedding / baby gift, and it didn't take that much (as far as info needed etc). So things aren't going too badly at the moment LOL and Rols will be likely able to get the bike he wants so badly if we have a bit of 'extra' money floating around.

I know that our Farmers won't take credit cards over the phone from when I had my wedding gift registry with them. I sent out all of the little cards with the invites to the rellies back home in the UK (this was after I told my "consultant at farmers" what I was doing) and when they phoned to pay for an item off the list all hell broke loose! They even put my nanna on hold for 20 MINUTES!    I'm not 100% sure but I don't think Farmers do gift registrys anymore!??!

I was thinking that I'd had a discussion before with someone about this, so it must have been you Toni LOL Was just a bit fuzzy on the finer details. Especially considering my MIL lives in Colorado I don't want them doing anything so rude to her, so we will just pick it up ourselves I think, and save any problems.

i'm glad they dont do gift registrys anymore, they screwed ours up SO badly! we spent ages with the consultant putting together the list and she posted it to us looking all professional complete with 'their gift to us for choosing to use them for our special day' an offer of $10 vouchers for every $100 people spent. woohoo we thought! well when we opened the gifts on our return we had 4 rice cookers, 4 telephones, 2 blenders, mountains of towels and bedding (all the same!) the list goes on, it was just nuts. we spent 2 hours in there returning and exchanging things because their system hadn't crossed anything off the list. which also meant we didn't get any vouchers for the money people had spent. their system wouldn't allow them to issue any. they were incredibly rude about it too.
despite that, i still shop there, i LOVE their baby section. have fun shopping jax!!

Well, sad to say we skipped Farmers altogether ! LOL We went into Baby Factory to get replacements for a couple of bolts that were missing from our cot, and didn't leave for almost an hour Hopefully Rols mum will still be happy to foot the bill because we overspent *just* a little Writing the email to her is my wee project for later on tonight !

However, I am quite proud to say that the only things we *don't* have yet are a bouncer (one of those things that sits in a frame on the floor and you rock with your foot) and a mobile for the cot. Since they're not critical items either, they can wait right until the end once the nursery is set up. At the same time I can't believe I have virtually *everything* else that I need... the next step is ages away - which will be packing my bags for hospital

I'm going to go 'unpack' now and peel price tags off and stuff Have to find plastic bins to fit it all in as well (so that it's ready for when we move house). I love this part of shopping almost as much as the actual spending LOL

Well, I could put the rest of it into categories, but I'm going to have a hard enough time remembering what I've bought since then as it is ! LOL

I now have in addition to the above:

Microwave bottle sterilizer
American size cot and innersprung mattress
Kingston bassinette
2x hooded flannelette bath towels
3x shortsleeve jumpsuits (no legs)
1x longsleeve jumpsuit (no legs)
Maternity pads (3x packs of the Libra ones)
2x bassinette mattress protectors
2x cot mattress protectors
2x flat + fitted sheet sets for bassinette
2x flat + fitted + pillowcase sets for cot
1x quilt and 'cot top' set for cot
1x ear thermometer (Safety 1st brand)
1x "medical" kit including medicine dropper, aspirator (little hollow bulb with point to get gunk out of nose), nail clippers, medicine spoon etc (travel size) - Safety 1st brand also
1x pure wool 'thermocell' blanket for cot
1x sleep wedge

A few more assorted toys, I bought two Carebears from Farmers coz I liked them so much in the pics of my little cousins new room... ummm... we got sent some handknitted blankets (2) and a couple of knitted wool cardy + bootie sets as well. I have also got bids running on about four of Janine's auctions (mum2paris) which include some sesame street beanie toys, some other assorted rattles and toys, the tigger suits, and some peter rabbit jumpsuits !

*cough* *ahem* Hi, my name is Jax, and I am addicted to shopping... Anyone else with me?

I don't *think* I've forgotten anything, the only other things we are likely to pick up are the bouncer and mobile, but that's a little while away.

The drawers I have are quite big, and it looks like I will have two sets, but I bet you I will be using both to their full capacity LOL I want to buy a few more things after tomorrow, although I won't rush out and do it straight away in order to give our budget a bit of time to recover
