Murphy's law of course says that with Willie away, the kids will get sick

. Sure enough, Maya and Sienna are both snotty and revolting, but yesterday afternoon Sienna woke up with a bit of a crackle in her chest and was unusually grouchy (poor old BS, BSDH and Gandt were treated to her screaming down the phone

).
I gave her some Pamol coz her temp was up to 38 and she went to bed as normal, but over the course of the evening I could hear her coughing and wheezing on the monitor and at about 10pm I heard her gasping a bit like she was having trouble clearing her chest.
So I rang Healthline, and the lady listened to her breathing and said she needed to go to hospital and get checked out, but of course I wasn't keen to drag all three kids up to Starship in the cold and wet.
So the Healthline lady arranged an ambulance to come out and check Sienna and they were absolutely brilliant. They said ordinarily they would have taken her to Starship just to be checked, but because I had Mercedes and Maya and no Willie, and they were happy that her oxygen sats were good and the wheeze was in her upper chest/throat not an asthma/bronchiolitis wheeze for me to keep her at home until this morning and then have her checked.
It was so good to be able to get some peace of mind knowing she wasn't struggling to catch her breath and that her oxygen sats were good without having to pack up the three of them and drag them to Starship in the rain and spend a whole night sitting there with grouchy kids.
So big ups to St John Ambulance, you guys rock!
Oh, and Sienna is still really rattly this morning, but Willie is due home soon so I'll take her up to the after hours doc when he gets home. ATM she's in her cot propped up on a 90 degree angle looking totally ridiculous.
