Hi ladies, we have just had good news and bad news...good news is DH has got promotion to job in sydney. Bad news is we are just about to start first round of monitored clomid through FA. FA have said they can write letter of referral, but I'm not sure what clinic to go to...does anyone know of any good clinics in Sydney? lilymay

Hey Lilymay, you should check out some Australian baby forums, they should be able to help. I found this for example. That's so exciting you are moving to Sydney!

Hi I am a kiwi living in melbourne. I still prefer this forum to the aussie ones. I am not sure whether NZ referral will be okay. I know with medicare that you can get up to 80% back as long as you have current referral from GP for 12 months - maybe check that out. I am very happy with the aussie system - it has taken 3 mnths from seeing GP for infertility to almost completing first cycle of IVF ICSI. You get 80% back after reaching out of pocket costs of $500. I go to a great clinic in Melbourne they have clinics all over PM if you want and I will send you the website address.

Hi Lilymay
We live in WA for part of each year. Like Trouble said, the Medicare system here is great, so it pays to just go private. From memory when I contacted Concept in Perth they said it would be fine to have just a referral from my NZ specialist. That was for IVF but I'm sure any notes on your medical history would acceptable.

Good luck in Sydney.

I know the clinic I go to says appointments within 10 days. Think it could also depend on what specilaist you see - as some major clinics have several locations.

From memory I think we could get in to see someone within the week and there was a one month waiting list to start IVF.
