    Posted: 16 September 2009 at 9:07pm
My MIL is in hospital at the moment and a friend of her's gave her some healing crystals to keep by her bed etc. I'm not a huge believer but I'm willing to try anything in our TTC journey so I thought it couldn't hurt.

I have been doing research on the net and moonstone and rose quartz seem to be the most common used for fertility.

I was wondering if anyone had tried this alternative healing option? Or knew of anyone who did and what they used?

Bloodstone is a female specific stone, dealing with the menstrual cycle, it's normally a deep green (like NZ greenstone) with deep red veins running through it (The colour of dried blood). Can be used to regulate mensus.

If you ladies are buying stones, make sure you cleanse them before you use them, you really don't want all the cling-on vibes from everybody else who has touched the stone.

If you suffer from negative thoughts or if you feel other people may not wish you well on your concieving journey, a piece of black onyx carried on your person will absorb all negativity (so it's stored in the stone not your body) during the day. At night, make sure you pop this stone in the moonlight to "recharge". DO NOT have this stone in your bedroom at night, it will give you nightmares.

I don't know a lot about any of this but I also think it can't hurt. I"ve been carrying a moonstone for a few months now "hoping" for BFP.

Ok my sources say that either bloodstone, agate or rose quartz are good for fertility. And she sells them, so if you cant find them in Auck I can buy some and send them up to you... She didnt know of anywhere in Auck to get them but figured someone should sell them

If you're using agate, make sure you get feminine colours like pink or purple. Moss agate will not help.

Pink tourmaline promotes feminine balance.

Green Flourite helps with hormonal balance/changes like PMS (and also menopause).

When shopping for stones (DO THIS YOURSELF!) make sure you LIKE your stone. You will just know if it's the right stone for you. It will feel warm when you pick it up, or fit nicely in your hand, or you won't be able to walk past without touching it.

I'm thinking I could cope a lot better with carrying a crystal rather than doing acupuncture. I quite like the 'naturalness' of it. Thanks for starting the thread DzinerGirl, and all the advice Flutterby, might have to go looking in ChCh to see what's around

I bought some yesterday!

I got a selection of ones that sort of "jumped out" at me, I got Rose Quartz, Red Jasper, Chrysoprase and Moss Agate

These are the meanings i found for them

Rose Quartz - Love, Peace, calm

Red Jasper - Mothering, Nurturing. Protection

Chrysoprase - aids fertility,

Moss Agate - New Beginnings. Birthing crystal to help ease labour pain.

Flutterby I know you said Moss Agate wouldn't help but it was one that "jumped out" at me although I did read somewhere its a good "birthing" cystal and helps ease pain during labour so maybe the fact it jumped out at me is a sign I'll get my BFP this month and will need it in the near future

On a side note DH picked out a different coloured moss agate too he's forever getting colds and this stone helps the immune system too apparently so that stone was definitely meant to be for him!

Dzinergirl, it sounds like you got a really good set for you! I carried rose quartz on me for it's calming effect when I got my BFP, and moss agate is great for birthing - and there is a reason you need it if you jumped out at you I had forgotten all about red jasper (it should be good for getting a sticky bean IYKWIM).

I love my crystals, I've got heaps and use them often. I even make DP carry a mini set with him when he goes away (he doesn't really buy into my belief in them but carries them to make me happy.) Have you got a pretty bag or special bowl to store them in? It's not a must-have, but I like having somewhere special for them to "sleep" when I'm not using them.

To use them - you can
* wear them as jewellery
* have them next to your bed
* carry them in your pocket
* meditate with them
* use them in fertility rituals
* place them on display in the family area of your home or bedroom (feng shui - check your local library for a book with the "map")
* use them as a worry stone to play with or rub when you're nervous (ideal with rose quartz)

Just find a way to include them in your day that works for you - I would carry them in my pocket if I was going for a job interview, meditate with them at night if I really needed help, even keep a couple of my favourites in the glove box of my car.
