hey guys, i'm flying with my 2 month old son 2moro down to chch (so just over an hour flight) any advice would be great!! he's a bottle fed baby too by the way....

I've never flown with a baby that young, but my one advice is make sure you get some kind of assistance getting onto the plane and settled into your seat. Have a bottle on hand so he can suck on the bottle for landing and take off.

I think the main advice is to feed him on takeoff and landing to avoid problems with his ears. I would suggest taking something familiar to help sooth him if necessary e.g. blanket, toy etc.
Oh and a change of clothes for him and maybe you in your carry on if you can. A friend was flying home from Queenstown, and granted her son unfortunately got a bug while they were away, but just before takeoff his nappy leaked all over them both. Luckily she had a spare nappy but no change of clothes for her and I am not sure about him  . Especially if your baby is spilly then I would definately recommend this

When Michaela was very little I gave her pamol 30 mins before takeoff and then fed her on the way up and the way down. As Mel said make sure you have a bottle ready for landing and takeoff and then just sit back and enjoy the flight. With any luck he'll sleep for most of it but if he is unsettled a wander up and down the aisle should help. I actually found travelling with a small baby much easier than travelling with her once she got older.

Just remember that they can't heat your bottles for you so need to take them on at the right temp for feeding.
I flew to Aussie with DS at about 12 weeks and we used a dummy on take off and landing for his ears and that worked a treat.
Remember a change of clothes for bub and also a change of top for you as its not pleasant if they spew on you.
Ask for a spare seat if possible as means you can have your nappy bag on the chair beside you after take off, heaps easier to get into one handed when its right there.
Def sooo much easier to travel with them when they are that age than older!

Put him in a baby front pack/sling as this is so easy for getting around the airport, feeds, sitting on the plane itself. I have flown with a 6mo (breastfed though) and she was no trouble at all. There will be some pressure on their ears with takeoff and landing, so let him suckle on at least your finger but maybe a dummy if you have one, to ease that tension. Otherwise if he cries, let him because that's the best way to clear the ears apparently.

I've flown a number of times by myself with Daniel, the earliest at 7 weeks. Have a bottle at hand, remember that the pain on descent can start before you realise you're descending, so prepare to snack feed for the last half of the flight. PAcific Blue are really good about trying to give you a spare seat next to you - haven't been so impressed with Air NZ and Qantas. Double check the luggage allowance. Ignore everyone's stares if baby starts crying (I usually want to cry then cos I dread the thought that he might scream for the whole flight!). Stand near the boarding gate - lots of the flights don't announce infants/children to board first so you sometimes have to tackle big tour groups and grumpy business men who should know better.

You will be fine  Flown with my boy on heaps of flights...only thing I have to add is make sure that if you don't get a spare seat you get an aisle seat. Change bubs just before you fly - its heaps easier on the ground - and be prepared to do a quick change (in the toilets) on the plane. And I agree with Flissty - ignore any stares - often people are just bored!
