i dont go that far, but i will leave as many plastic bags as poss at the supermarket. I hate they put one thing in a bag and then two in another. i always re pack and leave the rest behind or put them in the pushchair if i have forgotten my re useable bag.
i use cloth nappies, and cloth wipes and recycle as much as poss. we are lucky that our council take and recycle grade 5 plastic now so that includes ice cream containers and margarine tubs.

when we were in Japan the packaging was ridiculous. go to Mcds - drink, in a cup, placed in a bab. Burger, in a box, then in a bag, chips ina bag, then in a bag, spoon and straw in a bag, then everything in a bag, and if you look like you are struggling with other bags, then this all will be put in another bag.

do you mean the nappies glow?

i wash them maybe every second day. i dont soak them i dry pail and then i put them all thru a rinse in the machine, do a heavy duty wash and an extra rinse to get rid of powder residue. i have been known to use the water from my dehumidifier for the first rinse too.

i usually am doing 2-3 loads of washing a day of other stuff too tho. i cant believe how much clothes two small boys can go thru.!

We recycle cos palmy is quite big on it (well the current mayor is). We also use cloth nappies and wipes and I never do a load of just nappies. They get thrown in with all the other washing. I do a load every day or two. Never more unless I have to wash sheets. Never use hot wash for our clothes or anything either so that saves on power.

the first place i look for clothes is in the pile on the floor that i have taken off.
I dont believe babies need to be washed that often when they are little and certainly not in fancy washes and shampoos.

Totally in agreeance - all the fancy shampoos, and shower gels aimed at children, is just marketing and is causing problem skin in young children.

I've cut back to bathing my girls every second night (eek, sometimes even every third ]) but if I'm totally honest it's coz the water dries Mercedes exczema out, plus it's too cold at this time of the year, has nothing to do with saving water altho that's an added bonus.

We're pretty slack actually, I recycle plastic bottles but don't bother with the tins etc. and having a DP that works at the refuse transfer station is not motivation coz if we have too much rubbish for the bin he just takes it to work and dumps it.

But I do use cloth nappies, can't quite get my head around cloth wipes tho. And I use tupperware/plastic containers wherever possible to avoid glad wrap/ plastic bags. And I do use the pram to carry my groceries rather than plastic bags if we're walking. And I reuse the plastic bags for all manner of things.

Washing wise I do a huge monster load in my new industrial machine with nappies, baby clothes and our clothes all together, the only things I wash separately are Willie's work clothes and thats only coz he works with chemicals etc. at work.
