Maya just had an 'accident' probably coz of the gallons of lemonade she drank today (her treat for letting me drag her on a 5km hilly walk ), but she must have been lying on top of Fussy and poor Fuss is saturated. So I've had to put her in the wash, and it took me 45 minutes to calm Maya down. I kid you not, she screamed so loud she woke Willie up from his pre-world cup hibernation coz he thought I was murdering her. She's finally settled with Fussy Fake but only coz I promised to take Fussy in as soon as she's clean and dry.
Imagine what would happen if we lost Fussy permanently somewhere?

I spoke too soon, a little voice from the bedroom just called out "mama, get Fussy now?" and when I said she was still washing we had more tears. Poor thing, I feel awful for her, waking up soaking wet in a soaking wet bed and then having Fuss taken away

Maybe it's just that she was too busy flirting with BSDH to keep an eye on Fussy

The problem I have now is that I have no idea how long a wash cycle is on the new washing machine, it's been going about 20 mins, hope it's not too much longer!

eeek we have almost the same doll as you know, and a similar one for Briona as well. It's hard enough getting them to sleep in the daytime when the doll is hanging on the washing line! I didn't think they could go through the dryer though?? Well hopefully she is asleep by now and will sleep through until at least a decent hour in the morning when she can be reasoned with, and get her dear Fussy back by lunchtime.

As for us... well I've been waiting all winter for an opportunity to have Briona's white - I mean almost black - doll put through the wash and dry in a day. It's going to be soon! I feel sorry for her lol

LOL, you've seen Fussy, Fussy gave up being white a loooong time ago, now she is shades of grey, and so threadbare that even if you wash her she stays grey. And Willie has stitched her up in a couple of places.

NZ Piper, I suspect our wash cycle is probably about the same, if not longer

Teresa - I'm pretty sure the label used to say do not tumble dry (I say 'used to' coz it's now blank ) but we've done it a few times in emergencies and it only takes about 5 mins to dry coz it's polyester.

Heh. Lucky it's not in our washing machine ... a wash cycle is 2 hours 47 mins for a cotton wash (front loader) Washing must be well planned!!

Gosh Emma our label disintegrated a long, long time ago when she used to suck it. Then I read on their website that if you ever use the lifetime guarantee thing, you need to have the label intact. Whatever! Just as well they were not expensive dolls LOL

Oooh I remember having the exact same thing happen to me when I was little, wetting my bunny in my sleep. I hardly slept all night because I kept waking up to find him and he wasn't there

Poor Maya, I hope she slept ok!

Well Fussy survived her trip thru the washing machine and dryer, and Maya did eventually fall asleep with Fussy Fake so when Fussy was clean and dry I sneaked in and switched them and this morning she came in and said "Mama, when I woke up Fussy was back in my bed!" Crisis over, thank God!

aw, that's so gorgeous. glad you got through the crisis.

Ayja's the opposite, she loves being the one to go and put Jammie in the wash for his bath, cos he has blankie in there to keep him company!, he is the lone jammie here in our house, but she does have one at daycare that is washed every week with the bedding, so looks a little more clean, and since she's always used that one at daycare she loves them both, we just grab the other one to bringhome with us if there's any reason that the other jammie might not be ready for bedtime. But usually she's fairly ok as long as she has one or the other. if all else fails she does accept being lent one of Paris's 3 bunnys. Paris does have a favourite bunny that she calls "fatty bunny" i dunno where she came up with that, but it is one that looks like it was very over-stuffed compared to the others, so i guess it really is "fatty bunny".

. I know what you mean about the shades of grey, Ayja's Jammie is absolutely grey despite being washed very often.

i could only post this on this forum and know you'd understand the way i feel! caitlyns favourite doll, rosie, has been missing for months-she still asked about her, but, gradually, she was coming to terms with the fact that she might never see rosie again (gasp, violin music) then tonight mummy thought-" what about the toy box in Kate's room?" (my sister btw) and sure enough who was right at the bottom being squashed by Barney and Baby Bop? Rosie-and caitlyn's eyes lit up and she fell asleep with her-after telling Rosie to "never do that again!"

Hope maya survived her no Fussy situation!

It's a life-changing event.. loosing your cuddlie. My mum stole my "wuzzy" (a crocheted square she'd made to save on space, cos i used to have to take a whole blanket) when i was 7 cos she wanted to stop me sucking my thumb. It didn't, cos i found a new soft toy to hold instead.

My Dad 'lost' my bunny when we moved house, I spent days looking everywhere for him because I knew for sure I'd put him in the top of my box when we were packing.
I was heartbroken and turned to my second best friend, Teddy for comfort...

Mum sent my brothers "Bumpy" (cot bumper) to "heaven" when he was about five. He was OK with that, until a few months later when he spied Bumpy at the top of Mums wardrobe and came rushing out to tell her he'd found where "Bumpy Heaven" is

I make a little ceremony of favourite-toy-washing-time here, as there are 4 to do ( I just realised that because I'm pregnant there's going to be ANOTHER special toy to cart around soon!!!! )

I get my children to get their toys, and put them into a pillowcase, and then they watch me knot the top up and put the pillowcases into the washing machine. The whole time we talk about how Cuddles (Kiya's bear), Clarence and Monkey (Josiah's rag doll and monkey), and George (Xavier's lion) are going to have a bath in the washing machine and then Mummy will hang them on the clothesline to get nice and dry. Kiya's usually at school by the time I hang them out, but the boys watch me do it (I get Josiah to pass me the pegs) and we talk about how they will be nice and dry by dinner time.

Works so far - no major dramas from the older two now when I wash their toys, and Xavier coped remarkably well once I found him a suitable substitute for George for his day sleep!
