Topic: Birthday Blues...what to do? Posted: 10 September 2007 at 10:29am |
What to do....am feeling really glum, and its my birthday! DH got me a lovely pressie, and we are going on a "date" tonight to Gold Class movies, but me being a big suck, I still feel really blue - I just want to cry. Prob a combination of hormones and being at home alone, and feeling like I need to do housework all day!
Any suggestions for a quick "pick me up"? (that doesnt involve wine or chocolate!)

Happy Birthday - what a nice DH. Second what GandT said, and maybe smoother yourself in some nice body lotion.
Are you having a cake?

Thanks ladies - I have decided to go down to the mall and get my hair cut. Its been driving me nuts and I was going to wait and 'treat' myself after the baby was born, but I just cant stand it anymore! So am heading to see if anyone can squeeze me in!

Happy Birthday Simsam. I know how you feel. My birthday is in a few days and people are asking me what I want and I just dont know and cant get excited about it.....probably because my day will involve feeding, changing, feeding, changing......by my calculations it will tie in nicely with a growth spurt!!!!!
Enjoy him/her while he/she is still inside....so much easier (just kidding...its pretty cool when they are out too)

Just be thankful you haven't gone into labour on your birthday, like I did 3 years ago
Hope you have a great day!

I know how you feel, last year I didn't want to do anything much but then when it got to the day, I felt a bit lonely and like it wasn't a special day at all! How about ringing a couple of girlfriends and meeting up with them for afternoon tea at a cafe! And be sure to tell them it's for your birthday, because being told happy birthday really does help for some reason!
btw I've decided that I am DEFINITELY going to do something for my bday this year hehe! Oh, and when I was pg with my first I was also 35 weeks, isn't that funny! But I was still working full-time (44 hours) and was soooo exhausted that all I wanted was a romantic dinner with my DH that night
HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Happy birthday Sam!
I was 30-odd weeks pregnant with Maya on my 22nd birthday and it made me a bit miserable too, but I went out to dinner with some friends which cheered me up, and they made me an awesome alcohol-free juice cocktail that was really refreshing.
Enjoy your hair cut and hope bubs doesn't play on your bladder too much during the movies!

 Sam
I hope the hair cut did the trick
The other thing I was going to suggest was getting some nice body oil or body wash and having a lovely long shower, and then painting your toenails! Somehow, a cheerful colour on your toes can do wonders!!
Happy Birthday!!

Dont like the chances of getting DH to paint my toenails!!
I got a haircut, and its fine - for some reason hairdressers always feel inclined to straighten my hair even when I say I dont really want it straightened! Its naturally really curly so of course I can NEVER get it to look like they have, even using my hair straighteners at home! Still - it will look fine once I have washed it myself!
Saying that - I have got home and my day has gone from bad to worse - I might just go back to bed!! We have been transferring all our mobile phones onto a company account and I discover this morning that my cell ph has been disconnected (today of all days!) and that I have to drive all the way over to the shore to pick up a new sim cards dor our phones. It really sucks as they didnt warn us that we were going to lose our sonnections for such a long period of time - it was supposed to just be a billing changeover....grrrr....not what I needed today! I have zero ability to cope with this of course I cry everytime I talk to DH about it and now I have messages on my home phone saying that people have been trying to get me on my mobile or sending me texts and my cellphone number is sounding like its been disconnected (which of course it has been!!!)
<bangs head with new haircut on table>
On the bright side - thanks so much for all the lovely birthday messages from you ladies!!

Happy Birthday Simsam!!
Sorry to hear that you're not having a particularly good day. I was going to suggest some pampering and a good book. I'm sure things will pick-up when you go out tonight with your DH. Hopefully you get thoroughly spoilt. I've heard that the Gold Class movies are great!
