Hi ladies,
Can anyone recommend a good midwife in the Wellington area? I live in Johnsonville.

Any great ones, or ones to avoid would be fabulous. Thanks!!

Hi Laurie,
Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I had someone called Annie Bennett who works for Dominos Midwives (based in Newtown). She was a really lovely and caring person. No hesitation in recommending her. As you are based in Johnsonville though you might want to look for someone in Tawa/Porirua area which is closer to your home.

Hope you find someone suitable to your needs

Hi

I went to see Annie Bennett for my first appt and I couldn't stand her - she was judgemental about my intention to go back to work when the baby was 1!

I am now with Sue Whitley who I absolutely recommend. Sue is based in Newtown. I have heard that Rachel McTavish in Johnsonville is good.

Good luck in finding someone! I found that they didn't ring me back until I was about 10 weeks, which felt like a long time to wait...

Wow DJ that really surprises me about Annie's comments? I have also heard that Sue Whitley is good. My sister used her as well as another friend of mine. I would have originally liked to have gone with her too but at the time she was fully booked - very popular lady!

I had Fiona Malthus also with Domino midwives and I lived in J'Ville at the time too. All the midwives I met at Domino's were lovely....

I have Rhonda Moore from Dominos and so far so good anyway.

Wellington Midwives seem to be in shortage so it pays to look sooner rather than later.

I got mine at 6 weeks, it did take a week for Domino to reply to my message and another week for a midwife to get in contact. So they're initial contact isn't the best.
