Topic: Finally - surgery Posted: 04 October 2007 at 7:52pm |
Andrew had his appointment at the hospital today - I was a tad angry to find out that our usual specialist wasn't there. But as Andrew had timed wonderfully another ear infection we are getting grommets put back in and back in both ears!!!!.
And even better is that he is going to get his tonsillis and adnoids out at the same time. He has been put on the public list and I have asked the guy we saw today to get in touch with our specialist to talk about getting it done faster privately. I have health insurance (with nil excess) so I'm going to make use of it.
The surgery will involve an overnight stay but at Southern Cross i'm happy to do that. At least i'm given a bed (unlike when we had to stay at the public hospital and was given a leather lazy boy that squeeked whenever I moved) and food. I'm about to have a good look at our policy to see what I do get.
So i'm hoping that by the end of this month my big boy won't have sore ears and throat and won't be snoring anymore!!!!

Great that you are getting it done!!
A friend of mine has been private for grommets and adenoids/tonsills in her boy and it was done really quickly and was really nice in the hospital as well.
Good luck for your boy!

Well an update, we saw the specialist today at his private practise and we are all booked for surgery in the 7th of November.
The only cost will be a grand total of $35 for me to stay as the limit is $100 and the cost for me to stay is $135.
I'm so happy and can't wait now 3 weeks to go. I could of had it done earlier but picky me wanted it done at Southern Cross Hospital and not the other private hospital in Palmy.
So now i'm busy filling in forms to take back to the hospital and I can now ring the public hospital up and tell them to shove their 6 months waiting time, as i'm pretty much getting the op done for free anyway.
Can anyone tell i'm slighty excited .

I'm just too picky when it comes to the hospitals that why i'm waiting. I was told to wait a week and then if I hadn't heard from the hospital to ring them and ask when of if the referral had been sent. I got the letter last Friday (they were lucky 1 day out of that week I had given them) and then on Tuesday the specialist's place rung to say we had an appointment today. My claim form for today's appointment has already been sent back to SC so hopefully I get that money back fast.
Still have to call the hospital and tell them to shove it, thats tomorrow's job.
