Topic: Bacterial Thrush Posted: 15 December 2005 at 6:36pm |
HELP!!! Am going to share and may be TMI but here goes
In the last 18mths I have been suffering bacterial thrush and its doing my head in!!!! I have had 4 doses of antibiotics since August 2004 they first 2 kinda got rid of it but the last 2 lots in the last couple of mths did nothing. Now i have had normal thrush and that was soo a walk in the part compared to this.
The discharge and oder is so gross (the TMI part lol). I know i have to go back to the doc but i just cant afford it until after NYs. Anyway has anyone had this b4 and if so how did you deal with it? Any advice will be gratefully received

I haven't had it for long (1st course of antibiotics knocked it for 6) - More Re: doctor - my doctor lets me pay it back up to 5 weeks later, ring up and ask if this is ok. (They do an account and I have to pay an extra $2)
Hope this helps a lil bit -

Now, i had thrush and used yoghurt (plain...not flavoured). it did the trick. later i had it again but couldn't afford to go to the doctor so just went to the chemsit and got some cream. it was kinda funny as they took me into this special room so I wouldn't be embarressed. Brown paper wrapped it too.

I have had the same several times. lat time I went to family planning, cheaper than the $50 my DR is, plus the $5 accounting fee if you haven't got the money...

Plus if you have a Community Services Card the doc can prescribe the thrush cream for you and it's only $3.
I've been pretty lucky (touch wood) only had it once, when I ws in London, and just went to the chemist and got that one-off pill and it fixed it straight away.
As Lizzle said, plain natural yoghurt helps to balance the bacteria too.

this is a diff form of thrush than your normal thrush (i know theres more than one form!!!!) and the cream doesnt do anything for it as my doc informed me. i cant remember the proper name for it but i tell you i am sick of it as i cannot seem to get rid of it.
I have the normal thrush before and the cream was all good for it. the doc said if the antibiotics didnt get rid of this time i had to go in for more tests will give the yogurt thing a try though as i have never tried it - never know it could be the cheap miracle cure. heres hoping.
will ask the docs about sending an account but i took sooo long to pay the last one cos i just keep forgetting that am abit embarrassed to ask again but i prob will if i just have had too much of this.
Thanks for the tips guys

its called gardenerlla or something. bacterial vaginosis I think is the proper name. my chemist made up this specail cream, but it cost $25. had to use it for 7 days and it tool the whole 7 days for the symptoms to go away, but i haven't had it since. That was about 2 months ago, and I was getting it every 2 weeks or so. Ask at you FP.

are you sure it was A/B that your doc perscribed as A/B can give you thrush.
Also because its reoccuring, im not sure if you have a partner or not. But if you do he needs to be treated as well or else you will keep reinfecting each other.
Heres some natural remidies to try, or both forms of tmt the pills (not AB) and cream are available from a chemist without a script.
'Natural' remedies for thrush include: live yoghurt inserted into the vagina; adding vinegar or bicarbonate of soda to a bath to alter the acidity of the vagina; tampons impregnated with tea tree oil. However, there is little scientific evidence that these remedies are effective.

yep def antibiotics have had 2 diff types antibiotics for this. and no no partner so no chance of reinfection. I am going to check out the chemist today and find out if they can make something up like annie had done. my doc kinda put me off going to the chemist telling me that the normal over the counter cream wont do anything for this form of thrush but like i said have had enuf and what hes doing isnt working.
will def do the vinegar thing with the undies - if i dont throw them out and will try the vinegar in the bath too. even if it just soothes it will be a godsend.
Heres hoping fingers crossed

clindimycin 2% I think, not sure of spelling, thats what I used. My doc did say this infection can't be passed on thru sex (as if I wanted to have it when it hurts so much)U use the cream at night.
