Topic: How long till payments start? Posted: 14 January 2008 at 10:17pm |
We sent our forms through when Jack was about 3-4 days old, so I was just wondering how long until WFF and that $150 per week for 8 weeks starts? I'm guessing a couple of weeks? Would people be able to give me timelines for when they got theirs through? TIA

Mine started straight away, as soon as my paid parental leave finished, I called on the Monday and we received our first payment on the Friday - this is for Family Assistance, In work payment (for Dh) and Tax Credit. I haven't called Winz yet, waiting for the kids to go back to school
Have you applied for Jacksons birth certificate? Make sure you get him an IRD number too so you can receive better payments from IRD, if you decide to apply through them also (which I recommend).

I would guess you would either get the money tonight or next Tuesday.
Make sure you send off the birth cert applicaion asap and get the form from IRD to get his IRD number. IRD will usually give you 8 weeks grace to get things in to them.

I think it took about two weeks for us to get our payments and they back paid us from the date we applied.
You just need birth certificate and IRD number if I remember rightly you can send the forms before you receive the birth certificate and IRD number and I think they give you about 6 weeks weeks to get them to them and they start paying you before they receive Birth Certificate etc.
I got 150 for 8 weeks instead of maternity leave so you should be alright to receive it Kawwwww.

Yeah the $150 for 8 weeks is for everyone up to about 68k I think. You can ring up and order a pack (I think IR200 but you can check online) and it has all the forms on it. You can send that back and then when you get the birth certificate (which you order when you register the birth - forms will be given to you) you send in the IRD number application and copy of birth certificate. Hope that helps kawwww.
No money yet so I'm guessing we'll get it next week. As long as we get it soon, I need some more bottles etc for expressing as I never bought enough cos I didn't think I'd be doing it!

No worries I bought a pump and bottles etc thank god as I almost pulled my hair out whenever Jack tried to feed off me. Just now that all I'm doing is expressing and bottling I seem to need quite a few bottles and teats for the rotation!
Roll on the money... I want to get a convertible carseat too as we only have a capsule at the moment (not that he'll outgrow that for a while, he's tiny).

It should have started by now but they may be short-staffed over Christmas. Give them a call. Remember that any underpayment gets caught up after the end of the financial year - usually in June/July

Our payments started straight away, even before I had lodged Keziah's birth certificate and IRD number (they both took forever to come through)
Isn't it funny how a newborn baby needs an IRD number nowadays? I didn't get one until I started working and paying tax..
