Topic: Pain in the Groin? Posted: 22 January 2006 at 7:12pm |
Heya i dont know how to explain it but i have been getting pain in my groin area but its not constant and it only occurs occasionally and i have no idea why it is happening, i have a problem with all my joints that they arent supported properly by all the tendons so im alot more flexible than normal.
However when it comes on its really sore i have to move REALLLY slowly, i cant lift or lower my leg without mega pain, its mainly in the right leg and i cant put pressure on my foot otherwise id probably collapse so i cant walk or move my leg until it passes usually about 10 - 20 minutes. Its really really painful and i have no idea why, i also have a bad back and am wondering if that could be contributing to it? Most of my pain from my back comes from the right side aswell?
What i am really wanting to know is if anyone here has had this experience? and if so what it was?

Best to go to a Dr (or chiropractor) for it but my two guesses would be
1. Pinched Nerve or
2. Sciadica (inflammed disc i think)
My partner has Sciadica in his leg and sounds like what you are experiancing but then when I was preganant I had a bad back and pinched nerve which hurt ALOT!

sciatica - is pain caused by pinching or pressure on the sciatic nerve... which runs down your bottom and leg, so that might be it, sometimes as baby grows it can put pressure on your nerves - see your doc though definately - or your midwife about it.
also, where in your groin area is it? - i had a prob with the symphysis pubis joint in the front - and although the pain wasn't in my leg - the pain in my groin was so bad - that it felt like my pelvis was breaking and i couldn't put pressure on my feet until i had supported myself enough to stand up and let the joint move to where it was supposed to be.. sometimes if it got real bad i pretty much shuffled along.
i hope it sort itself out soon for you, living with pain sucks.

SOunds like sciatica to me too - I've been getting it lately and it SUCKS. I can't find anything to make it go away except resting with my legs up, or having a warm bath. Hope it gets better soon Jess.

I used to get wicked pains in the groin - really sharp but not as long lasting. Thankfully they seem to have all but disappeared since i had Taine.

Hey Jess!! I had something similar! Mine was a horrid pain kinda 'down there', it was just my pubic bone kinda stretching for bub. This is quite common but can be darned painful! Check it out with the midwife!
Hope it gets better!

I had symphisis pubis dysfunction too, it's where the tendons don't support the pelvic joints and usually starts around 28 weeks, but if you already have a similar problem it could be starting earlier for you?
