Topic: A bit of a shock this morning!!! Posted: 08 February 2006 at 11:17am |

Hi all,
I woke up this morning and noticed a slightly darker discharge like you get when youre beginning to get your period. Not getting many pains though. I rang my midwife and she said it could be pretty normal, but if it gets heavy and I get pain to ring back and they will send me for a scan. I have read in some forums that this could be pretty normal at this stage of pregnancy. Anyone else have any comments or words of encouragement. Would love to hear from you... Im worried.
She also asked if I had pregnancy symptoms still. I do but just slightly tender breasts, going to the toilet all the time and hungry all the time, but no real ms.
Love to hear from you.
Cya

when iwas pregnant with taine, but didn't know it, i had a huge gush of blood. i assumed it was my period coming back after having Jake, so didn't worry. i would've been about 9 weeks as well i guess. anyway, long story short, Taine is perfectly healthy! Apparently a lot of women bleed during pregnancy and while you should always get it checked out, it's not necessarily cause for great concern.
relax!

I bled more often than not during the first half of my pregnancy with Josiah, and he is fine. My GP told me that 25% of women bleed during pregnancy.
If it carries on, they will probably do a couple of different types of ultrasounds to try and find the source of the bleeding. Nothing major (in fact, it's just like an anatomy scan) - they will just want to check the placenta hasn't shifted slightly, and possibly check that everything else in your body down there is all looking good.

I had the dark discharge at 9 weeks too (over 2 days)and was convinced it was the lead up to more blood and a miscarriage (gave myself a panic attack and everything!). I called my midwife and she said exactly the same as what your's did. I'm now almost 18 weeks pregnant and everything is fine. I also had a mate who had a proper bleed at 14 weeks and her baby is fine now too.
Hope this helps - I know there is nothing worse than the feeling where you know there is absolutely nothing you can do to help it. I'm sure you'll be fine though

I bled with Zaara at 8 weeks with no pain, had a scan and she was fine. I had a pouch of blood just next to the cervix and that was what caused the bleeding. I bled again at 10 weeks and again fine. Then at 18 weeks I had major bleeding with out any pain...I went to the hospital thinking that I lost her but 22 weeks later Zaara was born, in perfect health. So dont worry.
But if you are still worried have a scan...when u c the baby's heart beat you will feel relaxed!!!

I bleed up until the 16th week with Jayden and freaked out just like everyone else. Mine was my placenta was to low but it righted itself and Jayden is now a big morning kindy boy. I never realised just how common bleeding in pregnancy was until I came onto this sight. Hard to do I know but try and relax, and like the other girls have said if it happens again ask for a scan so you can rest easy. Glad it's stoped now.
