 Topic: 10 Month Immunisation (hard lump)

Ok, so just gave Sam a bath and noticed that the injection site on his leg has swollen up, is red and is quite hard. The swollen hard bit is bigger than the size of a 50 cent piece. He had his jab at 9:30AM yesterday. He is happy enough, although he has been very snotty for the last couple of days and his temperature was 38.2 last night but after giving him pamol it came down to 36.5 in a few hours.
Should I worry? Should I take him to the A&E for this?

Kaly had a hard lump under his skin were the imms site was after the last lot. It lasted about a month. I was a bit worried at first but the lovely ladies on here put my mind at rest 
To answer you q's- dont worry & i dont think he need a visit to a&e

Rhiannon use to get the lumps as well, i found putting arnica cream on them helped, and it never bothered her...and they went away

Yeah Isla gets lumps too. You could ring the nurse at the DR's in the morning, and take him in to get it looked at for your peace of mind.

Jake had a lump too - it lasted a few months. My sister whos a nurse said its bad technique that causes it - pulling the needle out while still injecting.
But if you're worried and he has a temperature still tomorrow I'd take him in for a check.

I thought that may have been the case as she was so rude and in such a hurry to get rid of us. Sam's dad came along so that I didn't have to be in the room and she stuck the needle in so fast and then looked at me and said 'Well if you're going to leave the room, you better do it now!' and then laughed! Then she shooed us out to the waiting room and said we should wait a few minutes just in case, then she didn't even come back to check on us!
Rude woman and rough with my poor little baby.

Aww that's mean! Rowan had that lump after her six week shots - I'm grumpy now I know it's from poor technique. She bled from 2 of the 3 sites as well.
And she's back there on Thursday for her 3 month ones

That makes me angry that it's from poor technique. Daniel has had 2 lumps from his jabs. The last one was the worst though, it's still there!

Jakes has only just gone not that long ago, and that was from the 3 months ones - he had them a bit later but still I think the lump was there for about 3 months! When I went back for the 5 month ones I mentioned the lump - didn't say I knew it was her fault (my sister knows her) .. and she was very careful and no lumps this time!

Thats horrible, especially being from bad/sloppy techniques.. they are little babies. Daniel had a hard lump after his 6 week injections and bled from all three. One leg still has a lump and is slightly red.

yeah grannie (nurse ex midwife also etc etc) was ropeable when ella got one last time...BAD technique apparently!!!!!
Ellas lasted weeks....altho this was the only lump she got....mustve hurt them huh?

Jake didn't really cry for any of his - so I figure it can't hurt that much ... must just give them a fright or they don't like some person they don't know grabbing them.
Admittedly he has been thru heart surgery, so maybe his pain threshold is higher than most!
