Topic: Choc consumption - am I normal Posted: 29 April 2008 at 9:39am |
or just a huge piggy with uncontrollable urges?
DH thinks I eat too much . He is one of these people who can eat several pieces in a sitting & leave it at that. Of course, the chocolate sits in the fridge staring at me all day. DH's answer is to divide the block in half but this means I eat mine in a day & he takes aaaaages to consume his half, all the while it's staring at me each time I open the fridge. I must get round to informing DH that his latest idea has failed dismally as I have just eaten the rest of his half. Oooops.
Some days I feel like I really NEED to eat chocolate & if there's none in the house I have been known to resort to eating the cooking choc melts . They're a pretty poor substitute though but when your addiction rears its head you do what you have to do to try & satisfy it!
So, my name is Sally & I am a chocolate addict. But it could be worse, way worse right?!! Please someone just tell me I'm not alone.

Hehe I am exactly the same - I try and not buy it so that it isn't there to eat - but as you say cooking melts work nearly as well!!
Note to self - must get stronger and start on the diet!!

hehe Sally, I know EXACTLY how you feel.. so you know what I do?? I buy a block and hide it in the fridge so it's not tormenting me every time I go to get something out LOL
I also use it as a reward at the end of the day with a cup of coffee but then I only allow myself 2 rows and that's that

I too am a massive chocolate addict. There simply cannot be any chocolate in our house or I will eat the whole lot. DH can eat it so slowly over a few weeks, makes me so angry that I cannot do that!
We NEVER buy chocolate as honestly I could eat it 24/7 and still not feel like I am satisfied!

Gosh I am glad I am not the only one!!! I have absolutely NO willpower. If I have a bag of lollies I eat the the whole thing in one sitting even if I feel sick I still have to eat the whole bag. Same with biscuits- I will eat the whole packet. Not really a huge fan of chocolate so at least that is one thing I dont binge on.

My name is Georgia, and I am also a chocolate/lolly addict.
My worst addiction is chocolate buttons. Easter was not a pleasant time to be dieting for me.....!

You're not alone but considering how bad the cravings are you are more likely lacking in some mineral or vitamin and your body is trying to get it.
I used to be the same way, well a chocoaholic at least, thankfully not anymore!

Um HUGE Choc addict here! It can't be in my house as I will eat it that day.
Sounds weird but if you are craving it that much maybe you should have your iron levels checked!
I was anemic and craved it like you!

I love dark chocolate! Dark chocolate and red wine. Mmmmm!!
They are both extremely good for you (dark choc's full of iron and red wine's full of antioxidents) so I feel totally justified and I ignore the fact that I can't shift my belly weight.
Oh, and let's not forget about lollies.....

Yeah I think I will get my iron levels checked. I wouldn't be surprised if they came back a little low.
Neeks, I doubt that even hiding the chocolate would work for me as I'd know where it was so would have to devour it anyway . DH hid it yesterday so I emailed him to demand he tell me where it was (luckily he caved & told me).
Oh & I'm the same with chippies - any kind, love love them.
Man, I have a serious addiction...

Normally I am the same and eat chocolate whenever wherever, but with this pregnancy I can't stand it (well up until last week when I had to make chocolate brownies just because!!)
Still am only eating little bits though, last time round I could have eaten it all day and had a girl, maybe this ones a boy!!

I'll finish off DP's share as well. Now he knows if he leaves any, it's fair game If he has a chocolate bar that he really wants for later, he has to take it to work with him. I have to confess ... DP bought 2 luxury flakes last night and I ate mine, he left his sitting there. So when I went shopping this morning, I bought another one to replace his one that I just ate.
The worst bit is that I don't even really like chocolate that much. I enjoy the first few pieces then the rest of the block makes me feel sick, yet I can't stop. Is that an addict???

Hi, I'm Felicity and I have a chocolate, lollies, icecream and chips addiction.
I blame the baby. Until a month ago, I didn't have a sweet tooth. Now, heaven help anything that has sugar - I'm in and I don't stop eating till it's gone. DH can't stop laughing cos it's so not me. Hopefully the cravings will go away (or I'll develop self control).

Well I was told a few weeks ago that my iron levels were great, so maybe I will blame the pregnancy instead
