Ok: Firstly, be warned... This could be slightly TMI for some...

I have two questions, the first being:

Does anyone have a yummy recipe for Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies? Like, Ma Higgins style? Mmmmm, I found one really tasty one that were DEVINE... But now I can't find the friggin' recipe Not cool.

My second question (and this is the curly one):

Has anyone ever had Bacterial Vaginosis? Kinda like thrush, but not quite? I have it and I have the 3rd stage (Gardnerella) which is more or less the worst case scenario.

It was picked up when as tested for Strep. B whilst still pregnant but I wasn't treated as it wasn't an issue... But I'm thinking that it's an issue now as I'm itchy as a mofo and it's driving me friggin' crazy! I'll be walking along and will be attacked by an urge to itch or something so end up doing some funky little dance thing to move the seam of my pants in a more 'desirable' position.

It's really starting to drive me nuts and I feel disgusting. It smells bloody horrible and I'm worried others can smell it too, it's grey-ish in colour and feels like I've wet myself half the time cos there's so much discharge (see, told you it was a curly one) I change panty liners at LEAST 5 times in the day and have even resorted to changing underwear completely. I shower every day, if not twice a day, I don't wear thongs or tight pants in order to try make things more comfortable for my poor fandango, but NOTHING seems to be helping.

I don't want to go on the prescribed treatment as it means not breastfeeding for 48 hours, and my supply drops REALLY fast and I don't have a pump to keep things going

So if anyone has suffered this, can you please shed some light as to whether there's any other options for me? Preferrably natural alternatives.

Thanks in advance and I apologise if I made any of you throw up in your mouths a little

Edit for spelling and grammatical errors

Eekkk Umm Im not sure, but I know for thrush you can use plain yoghurt on a pad and thats menat to help kill the bacteria and stop the itch....
Maybe go to the chemist and ask them what they can give you...would normal canasten(sp?) not be enough?

Sounds horrible for you serenity I hope you find a solution soon.

Yep you CAN lend pumps.....Breast milk is sterile. As long as it is washed correctly and left in the sun to dry in bits or put thru the dishwasher, its fine... I run a BF support group and we lend/hire as do the hospital and plunket! Sorry, not meant to sound rude, either, I just like clearing up common BF misconceptions!

I have a pump in parts here if you want to borrow one, I need to check if its all together or not, as I know I did break a bit... Youare welcome to borrow it if you like.

Yup, when I had Maya I didn't have a pump and my midwife lent me one. I heard a salesperson in the Baby Factory telling some lady she shouldn't borrow her friend's breast pump and I felt obliged to butt in and tell her otherwise lol!

Hey Serenity,

Have you tried natural garlic capsules for the BV?
I had it a few years ago, it kept recurring after the medication finished so my dr suggested trying garlic because of its natural antibacterial properties.
Use the 1000mg oil capsules and poke a hole in 2 of them with a needle or pin then insert them vaginally. Night time is best because they get more of a chance to work before gravity does it's thing. (Put a pantyliner on though to save your knickers!)
You might want to get your partner checked out too, as it turned out for me that we'd been reinfecting each other The garlic worked for me though, after about 3 days I was symptom free.

I have just found out I have this too, when they did the swabs before having Mirena put in. Just took a massive dose of antibiotics last week and being reswabbed on Monday, so will find out if its gone.

Can you express enough for two days worth of feeds, and then continue to express during that 48hours? I would try the garlic tho, definitely worth a go. Good luck, sounds awful

I've got two manual breast pumps which you can have if you like. I don't need them anymore as I am in the process of weaning Samara.

Really!? That'd be fantastic! If you PM your bank a/c details I can transfer some money through to you? Just name a price

The one I was borrowing got taken back My supply has gone downhill in a big way since then.

Would probiotics work in order to restore the flora and forna as well? Will have to go to the health shop today methinks... I'm going nuts!

Serenity I had recurrent BV when I had an IUD and unfortunately the only thing that cleared it up was the antibiotics - and having the IUD removed (disappeared and never came back from that day). I did heaps of research on alternate options and nothing else worked apart from the prescription meds.

It's a horrible thing to have to put up with. I would definitely borrow the pump and bite the bullet so to speak. Hopefully it won't come back after that.
