Topic: Join my pity party if you feel BLEUGH too Posted: 26 June 2008 at 8:53am |
I'm SO over this cold/flu bug!
I've had it since Monday, got sent home from work at lunchtime (I looked that bad aparently). I spent Tuesday sleeping all day, yesterday I had hot and cold flushes and dizzy spells as well as coughing up greenies the cough has now gone to my chest and my asthma is really bad!
I though you were supposed to feel better for resting a couple of days? I'm getting worse as the week goes on
I called my boss this morning to tell him I wouldn't be in again today and he thinks I'll need a medical certificate to prove I'm unfit for work or else they can't pay me (even though they always send us home if we've got nasty colds as there's only 8 of us in the office and we can't afford for the whole team to be sick!). I told him there's no way I'm going to spend $45 to see my GP just because I've got a cold and besides that, I really don't think I should be driving with these dizzy spells
AAAAND... I'm so behind schedule with Caitlin's new room Her new bed and furniture are due next week and I just haven't got the energy to do any painting
BLEUGH! Told you it was a whoa is me post
Feel free to add your whinges

Oh no Toni! You don't sound well at all. Silly that your boss is asking for a med certificate when he knows you're clearly not well. I hate that you seem to get worse, rather than better after a few days of having it. And I'd hate to go to the Dr just to get told "you're sick, you have the flu there is nothing we can do", and you already know that! Then they rob your pockets for their time, when you've waited 20mins past your appt time anyways, and you were in their office for all of 30 secs before they sent you on your way before you passed the bugs on to them.
GET WELL SOON!!

Poor you. I had a virus like that a couple of weeks ago. Still not 100% over it but I did start feeling better by about day 6.

Yep, really knocked us for six. DH got it on the Friday, Michaela got it on the Sunday and on the Monday she literally didn't move all day. She just lay on her couch and didn't even have enough energy to put the iceblock I gave her for dinner into her mouth, instead she just held it until it melted. Poor wee poppit. I came down with it on the Wednesday and spent most of the next 5 days in bed or on the couch asleep. Disney Pixar movies were my saviour. I went back to work on the Monday (last week) and I'm still coughing, headachy and tired but on the bright side my sinuses are mostly decongested now.

awwww sorry you feel so miserable, I'm in that awful place too, have had it since halfway thru last week. Kids had it first so I took time off while they were sick, now that I'm sick I have to go to work (no sick days left, they were used long ago on other bugs the kids had, and I'm trying to save up leave for taking pre-maternity leave, also they get upset if we take too many days off). Instead of progressing thru the stages like a normal bug I've just had all of the symptoms at once and they not going anywhere, but even worse, hubby has it too and he's sooo not nice when he's sick..of course he's always sicker than anyone else! Hope you get better soon. Oh dear I think my whinge was bigger than yours!

 Toni, that sounds awful!
I'll join your club too.
Benjy woke up with a cough yesterday and got progressively worse as the day wore on. By 6pm he was listless, sleepy, vomiting and had a high fever. Off to the after hours for us!
They diagnosed tonsilitis and have put him on antibiotics. So having been up and down most of the night rocking and soothing him I'm feeling shocking today and joy of joys I have the cough. So does Ella
I really hate it when we all get sick at once! Waaaaaaaaaah!

I have a cold too. This is after having the flu, then tonsilitis. I have just returned to work after nearly 3 weeks off and I am still not well!

I've had a cold as well, but it turned into a flu, and yes, it takes about a week before you start to feel like you're coming right.
My best measure of colds and flus is DH - usually he sneezes once, and I'm in bed for a month when I catch it. He was sick for the better part of a week too.

I will join in, I came down with it on Sunday and although it is 'just a cold' it would be the closest to having the flu I think I have ever been (and many would call it that, but I have a pet peeve about it so wont go there...). I was achey all over, hot and cold, couldn't get out of bed for 2 days. Came back to work yesterday and decided I needed to see doctor and now have a chest infection. AM just hoping Jack doesn't get it.
If you are coughing up stuff Toni you should see a doctor as it will mean a chest infection which can turn nasty very quickly

Kellly.s sister Kate had it bad when we were away and now has been off all week, unfortunately has never been able to blow her nose properly( special needs) so all gunk goes to back of her mouth which in turn makes her get chesty cough and sore throat

Toni, our employee had the flu last week and DID take the whole week off! Dh was getting beside himself by Friday, but what can you do. These days the flu does last over a week, and if you get the cough with it, you'll be coughing for weeks after.

Ethan started on saturday night looking tired and listless, but Sunday night he was so hot we had night terrors and hallucinations.... he has been off school all week. To top it off his legs have gone funny (just waiting for our doctors appointment now to get him seen..)
I started feeling yuk on Monday night, and today I am a train wreck!
Dh is unwell. he kept me awake with his nose blowing, but at least he can take codral..
WAAAAHHHH I hate being pregnant and sick!!!!
Normally it wouldn't phase me cos I could pop a pill and get on with it. But i have been crying all day cos I am just so knackered.

I have it too. Out of six people at work, three of us have it. I'm onto day 6 as well. Yesterday I took the last 3 hours of work off and slept it off at home. Today I just took the last 1/2 hour off - it has moved from my head into my sinuses so I was feeling less tired today. Starting to feel optimistic for the next two days but yesterday/this morning I sure felt miserable.
Then when I got home today, Kryssi has had it all day today too. She's just doing nothing except cuddle, grizzle, sleep and yawn. Her temp at 4pm was 38.8 and she looks so miserable!
ETA: When I got home at 1pm yesterday, DH looked at me and said "I don't want you here - go back to work!" and then explained that he just didn't want it shared around here. LOL but what?! at the same time!
