    Posted: 01 August 2008 at 1:44pm

I am finding the early stages of pregnancy so different this time around.  Last time I read up everything I could, analysed every niggle, ache etc and was generally showing everyone how excited I was!

This time, I am enjoying time with DS, not worrying about  much at all, and probably finding life easier.  DH and I tend to forget that I am pg at all which is funny when we remember!

Also finding that others don't care so much - they say congrats and then get on with it... I think that is easier for me - I don't actually like talking about myself that much anyway.

Oh yeah and the time is going faster already!!

Anyone else feeling like this?

I too felt very different this time around but found the first 12 weeks dragged. Mainly because I didn't feel pg, wasn't reading everything in sight, wasn't stressing about every little niggle and wasn't chewing everyones ear off about what was to come. Also first tri was by far much worse than first time around .. but the second trimester is proving okay. Still feel quite removed from it all and not spending anywhere near as much time on it as I did with #1. Hoping the third trimester is also breezy.

You're not alone Bel.

Oh Yah...way diff.

With DD I was (and every one else) was super excited and every one was always asking...how is it going? etc...

With this one I dont have much time to sit and think, I am wroking + DD so I tend to forget and not make a big deal. With DD I had bleeding so it was always on my mind. However this time things are running smoothly. However Baby is starting to kick loads and I am really big this time already so I am starting to pay notice a bit more!! May be when that happens to you..you will start to "not forget" that you are pregnant!

But I know wxactly what you are going thru!

Yep I found people were just like or congrats and thats it when I was pregnant with Josh. I also found when anyone asked (further along) what I was having and when I said another boy, they would say to me oh were you hoping for a girl?!?! . I took great delight in saying no I wanted another boy 9truth be told yes early on I did want a girl, but after I found out I was having a boy I was really happy about how much money were would save.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

It is also nice to have not had much m/s this time round when last time i was so ill, i think that made the time drag by as well

I'm exactly the same Bel.  Apart from the tummy getting bigger now I totally forget I am pregnant.  I havent got my head around the fact that I will have another one in less than 6 months.  People as how far along I am and to be honest, if it wasnt for my ticker I wouldnt have a clue.  I havent opened a preggy book and I have only just started wondering if I can buy anything new.

i'm the same as well. I suppose last time it was all new an exciting and this time its not quite so much. That sounds bad, I can't quite articulate what I mean. Its just I have been pregnant before so it isn't quite as consuming as it was first time.

Funny! I was just thinking this morning, 'perhaps I should open my preggie book and have a quick read'. I didn't as I had 101 other things to do!

Congrats, NikkiB!!

And yep, I'm finding it very different 2nd time round too. Thanks to the M/S I haven't forgotten I'm pregnant at all, but have been a little foggy on how many weeks along I am sometimes, and I'm not interested in shopping for baby stuff until after I know if this is a boy or girl. And people aren't as excited either, which is fine - I've noticed I'm not as excited about other people's pregnancies after their first either. Happy for them and all, but no squealing and jumping about at the news! The nesting kicked in just as early this time though - but because I'm not buying anything yet, it's taken the form of de-cluttering instead!

That was what it was like for me the whole way through my second pregnancy and I really enjoyed it. I think it was so nice to just 'be' pregnant and not obsess over it.

Although the obsessing was fun the first time around too!

Congratulations NikkiB!

I think nearly everyone gets super excited about their first (once they come to terms with it) but for the second one you already know what to expect and a lot of the mystery and excitement is lost.
I found my second pregnancy went by in a flash and i am almost disappointed about it.
I loved reading my pregnancy book every week and how much fun it was to move on to the next page but i barely looked at it this time.
I got a little over all the pregnancy questions from everyone, strangers and all, when last time you couldnt shut me up.
I went for second hand clothes instead of mad shopping sprees because i knew how fast they grew out of newborn and i already had all the baby furniture from my boy so i didnt need to shop for that either.
We found our fun though, when she was born. Our 2 kids couldnt be more different so working out all her little expressions and personality traits is definitely compensation enough!
Goodluck everyone with your pregnancies.
