Topic: What sort of driver are you? Posted: 07 August 2008 at 12:18pm |
I have seen some shockers lately!! People who dont indicate annoy me!! Im pretty careful about sticking within the speed limit since I got an $80 ticket last year for going 62 in a 50 zone (naughty me!). Overall I think Im a pretty good driver, try not to speed but stick to the speed limit, indicate and just try to get where Im going with the least amount of fuss. The amount of people giving each other the finger too lol!!

A bad one lol!
No, I don't think I'm too bad. I do tend to be a bit heavy footed but I always indicate, and I always let people in.
My nanny is a shocking driver, she is really nervous and drives sooooo slow!

People that don't indicate annoy me too. But the ones I hate the most are those that drive into a roundabout infront of you when you're already on the roundabout and therefore have right of way. Oh, and those that sit on your ass hoping it'll make you go faster, sometimes it takes all my self control not to slam on my breaks to teach them the following distance rule.
I'm a pretty good driver. I've never had a ticket or even been pulled over but DH freaks out because he thinks I drive too fast (he's such a grandpa, I never go over the speed limit by more than a couple of km).

I think I'm a good driver, I try to be courteous to other drivers and always indicate (hate it when people don't indicate). Generally I stick to the speed limit pretty well (only a couple of km's over if I do speed).
People who don't keep an eye on change of speed limits annoy me, like still going 60 when its changed to 80, or when people pull out in front of you and don't get up to speed quickly Even in these cases though I tend to remain calm ... mostly...

I think I'm pretty good too but doesn't everyone I'm pretty courteous and let people in, move over if I'm holding people up, etc.
What really bugs me is when people that are driving slow, speed up for passing lanes so you can't get past and then slow down again when it finishes
And people not looking over their shoulder when changing lanes on the motorway. We've nearly been swiped a few times by people who haven't looked and we must've been in their blind spot.

These are the people me and dp get really annoyed with. If someone sits up the rear of my car i will tap tap the breaks if josh isnt in the car. I think im a pretty good driver i indicate when people are around and generally sit just under 10k over the speed limit. I let people in and i look behind me before i pull out and pass.
Im also the first person with my hand on the horn if someone else almost hits me or cuts me off (even if im not the driver much to the annoyance of DP). So id say im pretty aggressive towards other drivers if they annoy me or more endanger me

I think I'm pretty good...well I have to be really now that I drive a company car with the company's name all over it
I hate it when there's a police car and everyone slows down to way below the limit - you ARE allowed to drive at the speed limit!

lol I do that too - lean over and use the horn when other people are driving! I do it without even thinking about it.

I just got my licence last year, and like ex-smokers are annoying about smoke, I am annoying about driving and know everything. I like to tell people in the car why I am right and the other people are wrong.
PS just because you indicate, doesn't mean you should just move into the next lane without looking.

I drive about 500km a week with work and I would like to think I'm a considerate driver (don't we all?) but I can also get really frustrated and impatient with ignorant drivers. I find older people the worst as they can be so slow and unsure. Not indicating is my pet hate - especially those who put their brakes on but don't indicate until they're actually turning - WTF!
I always toot my thanks to anyone who pulls over to give me room to pass - but hate it when they pull over where I'm never going to be able to pass and flick stones on my windsheild.

I'm a slow, nervous, nana driver. My excuse is that I'm still learning and I assume that more confidence will come with practice. I try to be courteous with my nana-habits though. I don't drive below the speed limit if I can help it and I use slow lanes on the motorway.
My pet hate with driving is on places like Ponsonby Road, where parking sucks at the best of times, idiots who just stop in the middle of the road and indicate like they're waiting for a park, but there is no parking space becoming available! Even worse are the people who do this and then leave their cars to dash into a shop or something. GRRR. Just because you're indicating doesn't mean you're allowed to do it!

Oh i hate people who are turning but dont pull over or dont use the white lined median strips especially if they are suppose to drive on them getting into the turning lane!! We have old people who drive round them then cut into the turning bay man it drives me mental.

Im useless. Lol. Nah, sometimes i dont think and do dumb stuff, and its usually when im alone in the car. But most of the time im okay. I get horrid road rage though cause some of the people round here are stupid. People here just dont bloody well indicate its sooooo annoying! I have gotten cut off so many times!
And when i lived in Auckland, people were just silly. Its like they are always in a hurry and no matter what speed your going its too slow for them.
I got most of my speeding tickets in Auckland lol. I havnt had one for a long time now though, those were my younger days when i didnt have a kid!
Ohh i hate people that sit up your ass! When they do that, if there is one, i speed up on passing lanes then slow down after them (i know im a bitch but they shouldnt friggen do that!)
Yesterday i wish i could kill this guy. We were coming out of the supermarket and he was in the left turning lane and i was in the right. Was waiting to go then FINALLY a space and he hoons out and goes right. OMG I WAS FUMING! Then i had to wait again for a HEAP of people coming through the god damn lights!

I think I am a pretty polite driver. I do have to say though that I have seen some shocking things on the roads out here and I generally think NZers aren't good drivers (sorry, just my observation). It amazes me that in a country with hardly any people that people are still so impatient.
I hate people that pull out in front of me causing me to break even though there is no one behind me so they could have waited 10 seconds and pulled out safely. I hate people that think it is ok to pull out of a side road onto the hard shouldery bit before joining traffic, i cannot assume that is what they are doing so I have to break just in case they are actually pulling out. I hate people that cut you up at roundabouts and then drive really slowly, I mean WTF.
Speeding up on over taking lanes, driving in the cycle lanes, following too closely, indicating that you are turning right or left when you are actually going straight ahead at roundabouts, manuevouring and then signalling, passing cyclists far too closely, parking with no regard to traffic flow. I could go on forever. Oh and I hate pedestrians as well, why do they assume that I can see 360 degrees around my car? I am not an owl.
I'm not the best driver though, I do tend to be a bit heavy footed but it is normally on the open road, i try to be extremely observant of my speed in residential areas. I find it quite easy to speed out here though cos the roads are so wide you don't realise how quick you are going, and also having a bigger car at 50km I feel like i'm only doing 20km where as when I had my little FTO 50km felt quite fast.
