I've found an Evenflo capsule and base on special at the baby factory. For those of you who have used an Evenflo capsule with base - are they good products? I've heard mixed reviews.

Hmmm ... Evenflo recalled the capsules ... but then added a teether strap as a fix ... which basically means the base is pretty useless as you cant just click them in and out - you have to teether the whole thing down.
Which is ok if you know that before getting one (apparently most capsules with bases are now teethered down), however back when we got ours it was the thing we really liked, just clipping her in and out of both cars (as we had two bases) so when they added the teether we returned it and got a covertible carseat.

I thought it was only a certain model that was recalled?
I used them with the gremlins and have one again for Chiara. I have the tether strap on hers and it isn't too much more hassle, is far easier than strapping the capsule in and out every time.

I also like that I can use it with the snap n go wheels.

Oh, one thing to note tho is that they only go up to 8 (or 9?) kg, which is less than some other models which go up to 13kg.

Really? i never knew this! i have an evenflo capsule & bought a brand new base for it. (2yrs old now) never knew anything about the tether strap? I also don't know what they would be used for? or where on the seat? I lvoed having or capsule with the base, made it quick and easy for school pick ups (i was nannying). I wished i had the wheels but the capsule sat inside my big buggy so that was great! meant that when V was asleep, i could get him out of the car & not disturb him. not looking forward to this time round as our new P&T buggy doesnt fit my capsule but no point getting wheels from plunket as i haev a 2yr old who still really needs to be in the buggy.

The tether strap goes from one side of the base to the other over the capsule kind of like a seatbelt.
I didn't bother with the wheels for that same reason Chonny but I ended up hiring them a couple of weeks ago coz they are handy for short errands where the gremlins can walk like doctors visits etc. coz it frees up my hands to deal with them and I don't have to get Chiara in and out of the buggy.

yea i am thinking the wheels would be useful for the likes of music, coffee group & church etc. for the same reason, you don't have to do the whole lif tin & out of the buggy & distrub baby. unfortunately $110 ($50 + $60 bond) is it a much for us to afford i think. also, Vincent was always really portable so i think it should be fine with this one.......
