Topic: ring test Posted: 29 August 2008 at 8:25pm |
Meaning the test where you dangle a ring over your tummy. If it goes in circles you are having a girl and in a line a boy. I know it is just an old wives tale but I am curious anyway.
Did anybody do this when they were pregnant? Was it accurate for you?

I tried this a couple of times and maybe it was too early but it seemed to alternate between both movements all in one go - as in, if I held it there for long enough I would get both answers. Confusing!!

a friend did it to both me and another lady over a week ago. I know im havin a boy & the ring swung the right way, the other lady doesn''t know what she having & it swung lie a girl. i guess we'll have to wait n see, but i thought it was amazing. my silly dh had to be annoying & try to conrdict it so the same lady did it to him. she dai she could feel the gravity pulling it towards his tummy button. weird aye!

Well it wasn't right for me. I did the ring test properly on numerous occasions, and kept on telling me I was having a girl.
I'm even having all the classical old wives' tales signs of having a girl....
Well I had a follow-up anatomy scan a couple of weeks ago, and I am actually having a boy!! And I am pretty sure that the scan was accurate, as I saw the boy bits quite clearly, and even the sonographer showed me!!!

me and my sister in law both did it and it was correct for us. everyone ive talked to that has done it said it was accurate. its bizarre, we did it over hubbys tummy for a joke and it stopped dead, did it over mine and it swung in massive circles meaning girl, and thats what i got. Its good for a laugh even if you dont believe. you can use a needle on a length of your hair too.

It was right for me, swung in circles and I had a girl. I felt I was having a girl so no idea whether I affected the swing or not. TBH it has a 50/50 chance so there's bound to be people it works for and like Alianasmummy says it's good for a laugh if nothing else.

It doesn't have to be a ring to work, you can use just about anything as a pendulum - I have a couple at home, one is made of stainless steel (so a chain and then a bullet like pendulum) and one that is made of rose quartz with a steel chain. Used them for both pregnancies and felt I got an accurate answer, but my pendulum is tuned to my own energy anyway IYGWIM. There is a trick to holding still enough too. Also I tend to work it as clockwise = girl / anticlockwise = boy.

Yep I tried this and it was very strong that it was a boy, how very wrong it was, Lauren is very much a girl
I could have sworn I was carrying a boy and was VERY surprised when a girl popped out!
My friend has also done the ring over your hand thing (can't remember the exact details it was done a few years ago), but it said that I would have 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy. Ifs quite funny as I have always wanted 3 children, will be interesting to see if I get 2 girls and 1 boy in the end! DH reakons he only produces girl sperm though

My grandma says it is supposed to show you all of your pregnancies. EG, it may change from boy to girl part way through if that's the order you going to orhave had them. it's supposed to include MC's and abortions too.
I'm not a believer but it was accurate for all 5 of my sisters pregnancies and 3 births (she lost two).
It was still fun though.

Try it over your partners/husbands hands and see if it tells the same as you..
Bear in mind his will be different if he has had other kids previously not with you...
Worked for me all 3 times too :)

as i sai above, we tried it on my dh & apparently the ring was being pulled tothe tummy button (centre) the lady that did it said she could feel it being pulled really strongly.
We don't believe either but thought we may as well do it for a laugh.

Ok Now I am confused. We did the test on my friend who is 100% having a girl and it went back and forth. Did it for me and it went back & forth. Both were really strong.
We googled it on the net and it said a girl back and forth or side to side and round and round was a boy????

i don't think it works if you are the preggy one & you are doing it. The lady that did it to me said when they did it at her playgroup, the lady who was preggy tried to do it to someone else & it didn't work but as soon as someone non preggy did it, it worked.
