Does anyone know of certain foods or supplements that will increase and aid our mission of trying for a baby.   I used to suffer from PCOS but since losing alot of weight and maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle dont suffer so badly. My partner has low sperm count and mobility, due to having only one testicle......the doctors say there is some hope of doing this naturally.....So I hope someone out there knows how we can get there............. its so frustrating lol

Learnt this in class, though it was under IVF it may help with natural conception?

.........The use of aspirin increases the success rates. It is thought that the aspirin increases the blood supply to the ovaries and the uterus. The result of which increases the number of eggs produced and improves their quality, while at the same time improving the thickening of the uterus lining making implantation more favourable.............

Maybe eating alkaline foods?? Vaginal secretions are acidic so change in diet may do something?

There's the men's version of the multi-vitamin Elevit call menavit I think, this is meant to be good and I heard vitamin C was also good for increasing guys sperm count (possibly why grapefruit is good?)

There are many good foods to take during this stage. Keep up the wholefoods (oats, wheatgerm, etc.) Oats are a good kick start to the day as breakfast (porridge). Certainly keep up the calcium (milk). Zinc, selenium, folic acid, elevit. Yes, even men can take folic acid.

Good luck.

A naturopath told me cutting out sugar is something that really helps people with conception.

Thats interesting about the aspirin, I hadn't heard that before.

It is interesting about the aspirin. I think I read it in one of the IVF mags at some stage. I wonder though, when the best time is to start taking the aspirin, and how many a day. Does anybody know?

I found this link which discourages aspirin use.

But then I did find this study trialling asprin use in women who have had miscarriages.

When I spoke to my doc about TTC, she said that both DH and I should cut out smoking, and have very low intake of caffeine and alcohol. I didn't really query the whys and hows of that because we don't smoke or drink coffee, and have a very low alcohol intake anyway, so it wasn't actually going to be a change for us.
But maybe if your partner does any of those things he could look at cutting back?
Otherwise, does he work in a job were his 'bits' get hot? That can be bad for sperm count, so maybe he could make an effort to get up and move around etc if he spends all day at a desk or something?
Good luck

An impressive update to this forum....something worked!!! Over the labour day weekend we found out we were pregnant YAY!!!!!!! so I put it down to the following:

Boasting husband's Vitamin C intake, (minimum 1500mg a day)
Relaxing, we totally ignored the ovulation charts last month and let what happen, when :)
Sex Position - On your back with a pillow or cushion under your butt, great angle for almost everything.

I hope that some of this help others trying, as we are in total shock being told that the chance are slim to none and now we are.   Good luck to everyone
