HI all, I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to get pregnant while you have a secondary possible Urinary Tract Infection? Went to docs today with severe pelvic pressure and pains in tummy and back and he tested my urine and came back as possible UTI. Was just curious. Not  worried cos of the state I am in, just curious.. Probably a silly question too, lol.

On Antibiotics and hopefully next month will be better for trying..

I dont know if its possible to get pg while you have a UTI but I guess anything can happen and I wouldnt rule it out. Have you got any cranberry juice to help clear it up?

Hi Kellie, I got pregnant when I had a UTI (not knowingly, just happened that way) so it's definitely possible. JJ has a kidney abnormality though, although I don't know if that's anything to do with the UTI or not...

I didn't think having a UTI would affect your chances, though it might affect your desire to try!! I think I got one last month and drank heaps of cranberry juice as I was worried about taking antibiotics during the TWW and then I thought I was getting one again this month but the pain only lasted a couple of days and went away.

I hope your UTI clears up soon as they're not nice!!

Having sex while you have a UTI can push the infection back through to your kidney.... Ive had that happen and it is NOT nice! I had an extreme fever and had to get rushed to hospital. Not saying this happens in every case, but its best to refrain until you are all clear. :(

HI,

I ended up in hospital 1am this morning. Got given IV Fluids, etc.

I was experiencing severe abdominal pain. It was horrible.. I thought it was appendicitis.

They couldnt really find an answer but after spending hours at A&E the pain subsided alot.

The doc says on top of a uti, I could have a bowel infection or maybe reproductive system problems which he has told me to see my GP for further investigation.

tonight Im just feeling burning in my tummy, bloated, and cramping in tummy also sharp pains but nothing like this morning.

So off to docs again,.. Gotta get this sorted out so we can start trying for babies again...

Oh, that sounds amazingly nasty. Thinking of you, and wishing you all the best for the Drs appointment.

Oh kellverona that sounds horrible :(
I hope you feel better soon. If you get them regularly (like I used to **groan**) you could try taking a cranberry tablet everyday, they help to keep them at bay.

All the best xxx

I get these and take half an asprin every day, from cd1 to ov, to prevent them from occuring. I read that there are a few benefits including allowing more blood flow to the ovaries which helps ov. I have not got pg yet so not sure how effective it is.
